Apria Billing

Post by mattrlovelace » Sun Apr 21, 2019 3:21 pm

Do Not use Apria for any reason. Their Customer Service and Billing are the worst I have ever experienced.

I can't get Apria's billing group to help correct their billing errors despite many calla over the past year.
Due to Apria's incompetent billing, I have received:
Harassing telephone calls from Apria's collections group
Collection agencies sending bills to my home
Every time I call, Apria says they have stopped this from happening; however, the calls and bills keep coming.

I notified Apria of my insurance change in January 2018 and was told that the change could take 45 days to process.

After many calls to Apria, March and April 2018 BiPap rental claims went to the correct insurance company in May 2018.
The correct insurer processed the claims and the charges went to my deductible.

Apria suddenly started billing my previous insurance company after these 2 claims were processed.
Apria said that my current insurer denied my claims which is NOT true.
My current insurer's customer service people talked to Apria's biling group TWICE while I was on hold,
Apria promised to bill correctly and get back on track, but NOTHING was done.

Apria's billing group does not seem to be able to get the job done.
On 3/25/19, I requested 11 separate invoices from Apria for monthly BiPap rental or BiPap supplies so that I can bill my current insurer correctly.
I did not receive any contact from Apria until 4/8/19 when I received an activity list of previous billing statements.

I called Apria again and reiterated that I need separate invoices with with the items, quantities, diagnoses codes, ... to fill out a claim with my insurer.
My reply email included all invoice numbers and the information required. I even attached my insurer's claim form as an illustration.

On April 10, I received another invoice list with less activity, but all the items were RESPIRATORY ASST DEVICE, HCPC Code E0470 with different prices.
I can't bill my insurance company without the proper information.

This weekend I filed complaints with: TX Attorney General, CA Attorney, BBB, FTC-Consumer Protection and TX Department of Health Services.
TX Department of Health Services licenses companies to distribute medical devices in TX.
Apria has at least 10 licenses expiring in 2020. It is worth a shot filing a complaint.

I will let you know what happens.

I would have called a lawyer before now. Any debt that goes to collection agencies impacts the credit rating. If hey won't respond to phone calls, perhaps they will respond to a law suit.

Sorry to hear you are having such problems with Apria.

I haven't had any problems with Apria,
yet my Kaiser plan covers all costs for all equipment and supplies related to Sleep Apnea.

Recently, I did have a run in with them regarding a chin strap, where they sent the wrong type, but I didn't check it until after the 30 days ran out, and they pushed my situation to a Supervisor and they went ahead and approved & sent me another chin strap (the correct one) without any cost to me, even though I had passed the 30 day return time frame.

I believe Crapria has multiple independent departments, Order desk, shipping, Billing, etc. The seem to have an ongoing competition to see who can screw up the worst.
From my experience it is difficult to judge that competition, since they all seem to excel at screwing things up.

It is indeed the one thing they do well.
