Last night I totally reassembled my Swift and tweaked the fit per tips I read here, but I was unable to get rid of the leaks and the noise. I left it on for about an hour and a half, but then I had to take it off; I absolutely had to get some sleep... bad sleep, but sleep nonetheless.
I am going to try a different mask, one that is more suited to a side sleeper. I am thinking of the Everest Aura Twilight or the Comfortlite 2; from what I've read it seems like they are both good for side sleepers. (I was considering the Soyala nasal mask because of it's reputation for being so quiet and because I thought a nasal mask may help relieve my dry throat, but I was able to lessen that by turning up the humidity.)
Thank you all again for sharing your considerable knowledge with me.
Day 3 a bust
If you are not opposed to a nasal mask, you might consider the Activa. I use that (and the UMII nasal) and do not have problems with side sleeping. One thing I really like about the Activa is that you can wear the straps very loose, so your head does not fell like it is being squeezed, but as always, mask preference and experience is personal to the user.

My newest mask, the Respironics Comfort Classic, is the best I've found so far for side sleeping. I've been able to maintain a very good seal while on my back and on either side.
It's by far the cheapest mask in my drawer and it has no fancy gadgets like quick-disconnects and such, but it works very well for me. Your mileage may vary.
