cms 50f explanation

i got a CMS 50f since a few days.

the results since i started recording.

can someone explain these results, please?

do you think that i have apnea? If yes, how many AHI/hours do you think i have? do i need cpap?

what means basal spo2?
what means 'events? is this how many times i stop breathing? last night i got 40, on other results i got 82 or more ...

on the result of last night, i see that i was 1.1 min < 88% and 6 events <88%. do it means that each events of <88% last +- 10 seconds?

Faby, it looks like you may have had an obstruction on the night of 4 Apr at about 06:00. The other nights don't show the classic pattern of obstruction.

Basal SpO2 is like an average for the recording period.

Events are an effort to analyze the data. The parameters are adjustable and yours are set at a default. The analysis parameters are listed on the report.

1.1 minutes is 66 seconds. 66/6 gives you each event lasting 11 seconds.

While you do have some desaturations, a sleep study would tell you if CPAP is needed.

You're clearly having issues that are causing your oxygen levels to drop.

Whether that's because of obstructive apneas, or something else, there's no way to know.

That's why oximeters aren't a substitute for a sleep test. They can indicate that there's some kind of problem, but they can't tell what it is... or for that matter, that there even IS a problem... since sometimes sleep apnea doesn't cause oxygen deprivation.

i did a sleep test in a clinic and i'm waiting for the results.
i'm scare , adraid of the results.
i didn't sleep good that night.. lot of wires, there was a camera filming me.

i did 1 years a rx of my lungs and my left lung was abnormal. the radiologist said possible emphysema, after that i took a scan (1 y ago) , and the analist said 'scars' on the left long. i did a spirometry test (3 weeks ago) at the clinic and the lung specialist said 100% no emphysema. i think that the lung specialist should said of i got copd but the spirometry test was normal, she said.
i got these scars from a accident, i think. 15 y ago. i know this only since last year. the lung specialist said 3 weeks ago that my left lung was abnormal but she didn't know what is was abnormal

do i need to set other parameters on my cms50f?

It sounds like you’re getting good medical care, and it’s good news that your doctor doesn’t think you have emphysema or COPD. As others have explained, the results you posted show that your oxygen levels drop at various times during the night. But those results don’t answer the question of what causes those drops. Your sleep study just may have the answer to that question. I hope you’ll post the sleep study report when you get your copy of it. (Be sure you get one!) You say you are worried about the sleep study. Can you put your finger on what exactly it is that worries you? People here might be able to help.

They all look like something's going on, even the nights when there wasn't large drop...

I'd say that is reason enough to get a cpap, if you get one, *SHE* will be able to sleep, because a properly adjusted cpap will keep you from snoring,

i'm afraid of these drops and i saw that my oxygen, when i take a break, at home, on the seat or bed, that sometimes i got 93-94%.. for a few seconds (2 at 5 seconds) and i saw my normal oxygen level is 96 -97%.

You should talk with your doctor about your concerns with your daytime levels, but 96 - 97% is within the range regarded as normal.

Exactly. Doctors get slightly concerned when it gets close to 90%, more concerned in the high 80s, and VERY concerned at less than that.

When I was in the hospital several times last year, I was hitting 70% soon after falling asleep.

i called the clinic, because i didn't receive the results yet.
End April the doctors will discuss my case.

I heard that i got "moderate" apnea. i don't know how many stops i got in 1 hour, the nurse said that only the lung specialist can say this. (i will know it when i meet the doctor in may or june)

what are the possible treatments for mild apnea?


If i stop with smoking, is there a possibility that my apnea disappear?
i don't sport, if i start sporting (1 or 3 h/week to the fitness), will it have positive effect to my apnea? from moderate to light or maybe disappear?

i don't have complaints during the day. i am not tired, i don't have difficult to drive, etc...

if the clinic said that i need a cpap (i can't use a Dental appliance treatment , because i got a tooth bridge)

i don't know if i sleep on my side or on my back.. maybe if i sleep on my back, that the sleep position treatement can help?
