Insatiable appetite after starting CPAP

Post by tyrone747 » Sun Apr 14, 2019 7:47 am

I'm a couple months into my treatment and it's starting to finally work for me I believe. One side effect I've noticed is I'm very hungry. Not just for healthy foods, I'm craving calorie dense junk a lot of the time. It's almost like the munchies from being stoned though not that intense. Has anyone else encountered this? A couple theories I have as to why it might be happening:
1. My stress hormones from bad sleep had be suppressing my appetite and now it's rebounding back
2. My body needs energy to repair the damage my bad sleep has done to me

It is just the opposite for me. I am down about 30 lbs since starting my bilevel machine in October of last year.

i have nothing helpful to add, but when has that ever stopped me before?

i think this is another example of how each of us is slightly different.

i really couldn't tell you if i gained or lost weight or stayed the same after cpap. i gave up monitoring my weight long ago.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

Thanks I had been working at it for a while aquafit, cutting carbs but it didn't really all seem to click till I added in the sleep machine. Lol. It took a while tho, so to the op keep at it. The first few months until my pressure was right and I found a mask that was more comfortable were a real struggle.

Sounds like cravings.
Carbs will do that.
So do stress hormones, depression, and other things your doctor might need to know.
