SleepyHead results with new mask

Post by Tacr0limus » Sat Mar 30, 2019 10:47 am

Hello all! So here are my results from switching to a new mask last night. Let me backtrack. I have had my resmed airsense10 for 2 years now and i love it. My only regret is not getting it years earlier. I used to snore so loudly that nobody in the house was happy, so I did the sleep study and found that my numbers were both in the 50s for waking myself up and oh gosh I forgot what the other one is for but they were not good. From day 1 I used the Resmed N20 mask and it does pretty great work as long as the silicone gets replaced or washed once in a while. My only gripe with the mask is the blast of cold exhaust air that creates the sound of a windy beach and the temperature drop to go with it either on myself or my wife :( So yesterday I went to the supply store and they suggested the F&P Eson2 nasal mask size medium. At first use it is ok, I can breathe, it's relatively quiet, and there is VERY LITTLE air blasted out. I tested out the little filter piece on the exhaust by taking it off within the first few minutes and yup that blast of air is still there but the little piece of filter material seems to be enough to kill it; so that's cool to know. I did wake up around 5:00ish to check on the dogs and they were fine, and I remembered that my water chamber was empty so I filled it up at that time.
I really like the lack of exhaust air on this mask, but the bridge of my nose was a little sore this morning, and idk it felt like it leaked on my cheeks a couple times. The N20 has been riding up on me though to the bottom of my nose and pressing on the bridge of my nose too. So I am on the hunt for yet a new mask next week and am open to suggestions.
Here are the results from last nights sleep that I need help interpreting please.

I see the 5:00 mask off time, but I am not sure what else is relevant on here. Should I post data from another day to compare?

I use the N-20. I loved it at first but then it started really leaking. I replaced cushions and it was still leaking. Finally after a trip to the dme they gave me the smaller "for her" headgear and my leaks are under much better control.

Occasionally I will get a sore on my nose that will be right where the masks sits. I have been on a hunt to find a backup mask to wear during thise times. I have tried the nasel pillows but just wake up with a sore nose after about 2 hours and for me it's not working.

A lot of people like and are recommending the bleep mask but I can not yet get it from my Dme. In the meatime I have found my best alternative is the dreamwear nasal. It fits under the nose and doesn't rub in the same spots. Of course it vents as much as the N-20 but it does vent from two different spots so its not quit the blast that the N-20 has.

Take a look at the F & P Brevida or the ResMed AirFit P10.
Both of those gave diffused venting....and nothing over the bridge of the nose area.

I will second that. For what it is worth.
I have both and adjusted to both easily.
I prefer the P10.
Good luck on your search. Hope it is a short one.
