My current DME company has not sent me supplies for about 3 months. I contacted them to inquire why I am not receiving supplies. They replied that I was out of compliance, since I have not seen my sleep doctor since 2017. They said I would need to complete another sleep study before they will ship supplies. I made an appointment with my sleep doctor and had my appointment this past Friday. I am 100%compliant, according to my data card and my doctor said I do not need to take another sleep study and to have the DME contact them to get proper authorization to send supplies. I called my DME to say I was in compliance and to start re-shipping supplies. They still insist that I have to complete a sleep study for supplies to be shipped. So has anyone experienced this situation, where the DME has authority over the Doctor's authorization?
Thanks,
Doctor vs. DME

This sounds crazy. Either there’s more to the story or time to find a new DME.

Re: Doctor vs. DME
Is your DME associated with the local sleep clinic? Has the doctor sent a new prescription to the DME? If so, then it is time to find a new DME. If not, then have your doctor send a new prescription to the DME. Most insurance companies require verification of compliance before they will pay for supplies. If your insurance felt you were not in compliance they could refuse to pay for any more supplies until you prove you are in compliance which the visit to the doctor did.

Why do you think you need regular shipments of "supplies"? because the money grubbing, lying DME told you so?Tigger wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2019 9:53 amMy current DME company has not sent me supplies for about 3 months. You don't need *any* routine replacements of anything. Replace things when they wear out, not on any sort of schedule.
Keep one or two extra spares, and replace things when they break, or stop working... then order another spare.
Going with amazon or ebay for those replacements will probably be a lot cheaper than having to get a doctors appt and who knows what else to get 'supplies' billed to you on a routine basis.

Re: Doctor vs. DME
Keep backups of everything on hand, but only order the supplies you need. To do otherwise is wasteful of the planet's resources. Control what supplies you take - don't let the DME automatically ship supplies. Some DMEs will ship regularly whether you need it or not. This drives up the cost of insurance and government programs for all of us.
They are wrong. If this DME is in your insurance network, call your insurance company and discuss with them what the DME needs to file your insurance claim. Your insurance company may need to call their contact at the DME and straighten their ass out.
Good luck.

There are much better games to watch during March Madness.Doctor vs. DME
But if a DME doesn't want your business, it's probably best not to insist on giving it to them.
