F30 mask - managing leak rate

Post by BlueDragon » Tue Mar 19, 2019 2:02 pm

About a month ago, I switched from a P10 to F30 mask in an attempt to reduce aerophagia. I do seem to be swallowing a lot less air, so the switch is successful from that point of view. I did bump my minimum pressure up from 9.4 to 9.8.

AHI and leaks are another problem. With the P10, AHI was fairly stable from night to night, and there were very few leaks. With the F30, AHI is less stable, varying considerably from night to night (range of 0.27 to 7+). Statistically, average AHI with P10 was a bit less than 1.5 while with the F30 it is slightly above 2. I have a lot of leaks with the F30, and I am sometimes aware of them during the night as air flows out from the edges of the mask. Curiously, my best AHI night had one of the ugliest leak rates. :?:

When running the mask fit test, it's clear I have to tighten the straps more than I would have expected to keep leaks under control.

Any thoughts about improving leak management with the F30 would be appreciated.
