Which specialist is best for treating sleep apnea? I got a notice that my doctor is leaving the practice. She is a neurologist specializing in sleep apnea and only sees sleep apnea patients. The only other doctors in the same practice are ENTs who also do sleep apnea (which sounds to me like sleep apnea is not their main area of expertise). Looks like I will have to look for a new practice or pick one of the ENTs. So far, I haven't been able to find out if my doctor is staying in the area.

Another question - is sleeping in a recliner ever adequate treatment for sleep apnea? I know someone who quit using their machine and started sleeping in a recliner. I am not looking to tell them what to do. Just curious if a recliner would be enough.
My mom sleeps in a recliner. And without cpap, she has severe sleep apnea. Back before her current machine, I let her use mine with her setting of 10. She still had clusters of long events (most over 30 seconds, some over a minute). That was in the recliner.

I am well aware that I can fall asleep sitting on the couch, in an upright position, and wake myself up with the snorting and snoring. So, I doubt a recliner would help me at all.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

I take naps in my recliner. Not long naps... maybe a half an hour, without the machine. I know it's not good for me.... but neither is ice cream....
Time to get a spare and have it by your recliner, Sheriff!

Though, just being in the recliner instead of flat on the bed probably lessens the need some.
I know.... but masking up removes the mood....

I think the best advice for treating Sleep Apnea is obtained from people like Pugsy and Palerider. I KNOW I got the best advice from people here on this forum.
My apnea was originally diagnosed by a GP that I have not seen since before the PSG he ordered. I received my in lab sleep study In the parking lot of the lab as I was leaving town. I got my first prescription from a friend who happened to be an MD and a hose head. He sent me to his small DME who treated me great and provided exactly what I asked for, after getting advice here.
My second PSG was ordered by a sleep Doc who I saw once before and once after the PSG. He was good, but when he discovered he was out of network with my insurance refused to see me again.

It seems most great sleep doctors stay hidden behind those unicorns.

Did they allow the bed to be parked in a handicapped space?

I should have said Study results.
And no. I didn't even park. I was living in and driving my motor home with my bedroom in the back. They actually brought the report out and handed it to me through the driver's window.
I hadn't thought about bringing MY bedroom to the lab. Don't quite know how they would have reacted.
