Can’t use autoset

Post by Croatoanz » Fri Feb 15, 2019 2:19 pm

I just got a ResMed 9 elite and it’s suppsed to have an autoset setting but it seems stuck on cpap setting. Not sure if something needs to be enabled for The option to be available or what.

The Elite model has only one mode of operation available....fixed cpap mode.
It has no other modes available.
Don't know who told you it did but it doesn't. Never has and never will.
You have to get the AutoSet model to have the auto adjusting/apap mode available to use.

To get an autoset setting...you need an autoset model. An autoset has a fixed pressure setting, but a fixed setting machine (Elite) does not have an autoset setting.

Well, that's not exactly true.
Here's an item from the CPAP.COM website from April of 2005. There was a piece of software that upgraded the S7 Elite to an Autoset Spirit. A little pricey, but it was available.

If you just received that machine, there's a chance that you can get them to upgrade it to an Autoset. The insurance providers pay by insurance codes and the code for an Auto is the very same as a straight pressure CPAP......E0601.

In that regard, it doesn't make an ounce of difference to the insurance providers. In some cases, you may need to get your doctor to change the prescription he sent to the DME, but that shouldn't be all that hard to get accomplished.....talk to him.

The thing is, an Auto can be set to run in straight pressure, but a straight pressure CPAP can't use a range of pressures.

Be sure to demand that you get the Autoset. There are other less-capable autos, but the Autoset is the one you want.

It's at least worth the effort to see if you can get it exchanged for the Autoset.

By the way, there should be no up-charge for the upgrade.
