Wash hose?

Post by af » Mon Nov 20, 2006 5:16 pm

Being new to cpap, I was wondering why you would have to wash the inside of the hose. If microfiltered air is runnig through fresh distiiled water, why not just hang it and let it air dry?

Good question. That is exactly why I don't wash mine. I do use two hoses and alternate to make sure it dries completely.

I've been using since the end of August (660 hours of use on my machine)and have never washed my hose. I wash the mask parts each morning, the humidifier tank about twice per week and top off the distilled water in between, and change the air filters about twice per month or when the air just isn't smelling fresh anymore. So far no problems. I have no problem with condensation in my hose at all. If I did then I might consider washing the hose out to be sure no mold or mildew was growing in there.

I wash the hose once or twice a week. The routine is that I let water run through it when taking my morning shower. After that I just hung it in the shower so that any water will drop from it. It will be dry by the evening when ready to use again.
