I saw this and thought any of you experts out there know more than the public for sure on Sleep Apnea. If you would like to share your knowledge, now is your time.
Good luck I will watch you if you get on.......

Alright! ... Oprah!
Now this ought to at least be respectable.
I'll be sure to see what she has to say, as she seems like a very nice intelligent lady.
I think we need to sign up Rested Gal for the job, don't ya think?

I don't think they are necessarily looking for an expert but rather just somebody with an interesting story.
Maybe a story like someone who has OSA began treatment and realized some of the shortcomings of the treatment......say maybe something like straps digging into her face and leaving marks!
And maybe this clever person came up with a fix and now spends a lot of her time helping others with this comfy fix.
Now thats a story I would watch on Oprah!
Any ideas as to who we could get?

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body totally worn out and screaming,WOO HOO what a ride!

I think it is an EXCELLENT opportunity for anyone whose life has been significantly altered due to sleep apnea. (more importantly, undiagnosed).
I don't know that being overweight is that relative, although from my readings, more people with apnea are overweight. I think that the exception(s) to that should also be represented.
The 'ad' mentioned 'Chicagoland' I'm wondering if they won't reimburse anyone living outside that area? Or maybe it's a standard logo? I think I misinterpreted that, on second thought, as Oprah is SO GENEROUS. Maybe this would be an opportunity to GET NEW EQUPMENT????? Ok, wishful thinking.
This would be such a terrific opporunity for the right people to also represent capaptalk.com also. There are so many people here who are extremely well-informed, and if they speak as well as they write, would be ideal candidates. We NEED 'our' people to be there and speak out. I'm sure she doesn't want more than one newly-diagnosed person who can't contribute to 'the trials, tribulations, and SOLUTIONS'. (I am NOT dismissing your problems, please understand)
Come on, all of you that have helped me, at least. Or shall we start a 'Nomination List'??? (...some taunting here...)
What an opportunity to educate so many!

our link for Oprah
I sent Oprah a link to cpaptalk.com, Our Collective Wisdom, to help her researchers. Don't know if it will be read since I'm not in Chicagoland.
If you are in Chicagoland and especially if you have a family history of diagnosed or more likely undiagnosed sleep apnea, please consider applying to be on the show.
Following another recent post, I also sent the link to Rosie on The View, using Barbara Walter's email link.

I sent Oprah my story of being on pap for 10+ yeasr along with what happens when apnea and psychiatrist in the recovery community collide.
I received 2 replies, one that my message was returned and another that Oprah had rec'd my mail. So I am not sure how it stands.
My new bumpersnicker proposal:
LYSDEXICS UNTIE!!

This is what I sent her:
----------
My story is a horror story about what happens when Sleep apnea and Psychiatry collide.
I WAS a pharmacist who gained weight and developed sleep apnea. I was working at many different locations in N Florida.
I had excessive daytime drowsiness and very dangerous driving abilities.
The co workers reported to my supervisor that I acted like I was on drugs since I fell asleep sometimes at work.
This resulted in me being sent to an organization responsible for impaired professionals.
They were totally ignorant of apnea and assessed me as being a narcotic addict and alcohol dependent, even though I had never even had a though of taking narcotics and my alcohol consumption was moderate at most with no affect on my pharmacist duties.
I spent a week at a recovery center that was a total farce.
I went to Chicago to Rush behavioral for an addition assessment and the results were the same. The paid NO attention to apnea and simply rubber-stamped the shrinks assessment.
I eventually had my license REVOKED, totally on the opinion of the shrinks.
It is now more than 10 years since this nightmare and I think about it every day and how so many errors are tolerated by the EXPERTS and the power these people have.
I participate in many online apnea forums.
My story is posted at one of the apnea sites
