Hi,
New here so please be nice! Haha
I’ve been using my CPAP machine for only a few months. I have a full face mask with nasal pillows. I tend to breath through my nose most nights even though it is slightly congested, I use OTC nasal decongestants to help with this.
The last few weeks I’ve been getting a strange blockage happening half way through the night, it seems to only occur when the pressure has ramped up. I awake and when I attempt to exhale through my nose, it begins flowing smoothly but then it’s like something catches in my nose and that blocks my nasal airway. If I inhale then exhale again, same thing happens.
I can clear it by doing that yucky suck your boogers down your throat move. I can then exhale fine but it will happen again.
I’m concerned as I’m sure this is happening when I am asleep and my sleeping self can’t clear it.
Looking for any information on anyone else experiencing similar problems.
This has been a rough ride trying to get used to CPAP but I am hopeful the results will be worth it.
By the way I live in Australia, the hot dry part. I can follow up with machine specs later as I am not home currently. It has a humidifier and heated hose, resmed.
Cheers in advance.

Re: Strange intermittent blocking of nose when exhaling
It sounds like a bit of mucus, dried out a bit more by the airflow.
Otherwise, your sleepy self would automatically push it down to the repository of unwanted nose stuff.
The disgusting move you describe happens all the time.
It's only when you have to do it intentionally, does it seem nasty.
I would adust the humidity up a notch, and see how that goes.
Sometimes, I just lift the mask and blow my nose into a tissue.

Welcome to the forum.
You are using the heated hose with the ResMed machine...AirSense 10 model of some kind?
Or different brand?
What is the humidity setting? Is it auto or something else?
