Newbie with Issues! :(
Good morning to you all! I have been diagnosed with SA and using CPAP for about 14 months now. Its mild/medium I guess - about 15-20 apneoas a night before CPAP. My problem is that I have an extensive venous malformation in my mouth that covers my tongue and has narrowed my pharynx (hence the sleep apneoa). I have tried nasal masks, Amara Gel full face and Amara View. My problem is that because my tongue is so large it falls back and my mouth opens but I do not mouth breathe, I nose breathe with my mouth open. I am suffering with extremely dry mouth, so much so that my damaged tongue is tearing when I wake up because it is "glued" to the roof of my mouth. Also I suffer from hiatus hernia, gallstones and diverticulitis, which would seem irrelevant, but (it seems to me) that air is getting into my stomach and aggravating the hernia and gallstones and I am waking up with pains in my stomach and ribcage, I am full of air and wake up uncomfortable, headachey, depressed, unrefreshed and feeling ill. I am at my wits end with it all. I have just looked at the stats and the apnoeas seem to be going up too. When I first started CPAP they were very low (between 2-5) and sometimes they are that low now, but sometimes they are going up to 15 - 22. I have tried to talk to the hospital about this but they are not being very helpful. They send me new masks etc. but the masks arent the problem I dont think. I just think I am not suitable for CPAP. I have a humidifier but not heated tubing. I do try and keep the tubing in bed with me. I have a Phillips Respironics One System machine. Has anyone else got any advice or had any similar problems? I look forward to reading all the posts. I havent had time to yet, just thought I would quickly bash this out and perhaps hear any advice! Many thanks Toni x

If you have a System One machine ....your equipment profile is all wrong.
You are showing a ResMed machine with a Respironics humidifier that won't work with a System One machine.
Look on the bottom of the blower unit for a 3 digit number beginning with DS or REF and tell us the 3 digits and we can point you to the correct selection in the equipment menu. This will help avoid confusion later.

do you know if there exists a list of machines that shows the different features of each machine? for example, i know my machine has the "soft" feature, but not everyone has that.

I do not... if someone found that info, I'd be happy to add it to the machines page, and if there's info that would be useful to have in there, I'd certainly be happy to look at whether it'd be good to add, or make another page and link it.zonker wrote: ↑Tue Dec 18, 2018 3:56 pmi've been meaning to say thank you for posting this link. it's going to come in real handy for the new folk.palerider wrote: ↑Tue Dec 18, 2018 3:52 pm

I don't want that page to be *too* detailed, you know, have so much stuff that you can't find anything, I'd like a happy medium between 'not enough' and 'ohhh, too much! I can't find what I need!"
