ugly night and more questions

Post by babydinosnoreless » Sat Dec 08, 2018 1:46 pm

Slept longer that I have in a long time but the data looks ugly. I throw out the stuff from either side as SWJ and there is still an area that is concerning. Looks like the real deal. Right about 3:30. Do I need to change my pressure?

I am also concerned about the machine settings. Under it it says climate control auto. Even though I turned it to a specific number it also has Patient Access as no and temp enable as 1. What the heck is all that? Are they setting it remotely? Am I being paranoid?

Ignore what SleepyHead says the settings are.....look on the machine instead...in the clinical menu.
SleepyHead has a little bug in it when it comes to reporting the settings in that area. Mine often tells me that I have the humidifier turned off or not attached...and I sure as heck am using it and it's attached because it's built in.

Next time you do your graphs....don't make the flow rate so big and the other graphs so small. Flow rate doesn't really tell us much unless you actually zoom in on things.
Seeing the pressure line in better detail would be better use of the space.

Could I see the Flow Limitation graph for last night please? Make the Flow Rate a lot smaller and I think you can squeeze in the Flow Limitation graph.

Go to the events tab and click on Obstructive Apneas and scroll down till you see the flagged events around 3:30....how many are there and what is the number in parentheses next to them?
You've not really zoomed in close enough with the one zoomed in image but I am leaning towards those being SWJ at 3:30 also. The breathing right before the first flagged OA looks like big gulps of air or arousal breathing to me.
Need to see it a little closer (including the asleep time preceding the flags) to be sure.
To me looks like asleep until around 3:15 and then an arousal maybe....and then more arousal at 3:30.

Small clusters like this could be from any number of causes. Perhaps you had a restless period where you moved around on the bed to get into a more comfortable position. I often small clusters in my wife's data where she is experiencing back pain and is moving around in her sleep or slipping in and of sleepwhile trying to get comfortable.

Flow limitations not increased at 3:30.
I am betting SWJ....flow limitations weren't exciting and the machine didn't try to do much and in fact started reducing which it wouldn't normally do if real.

You didn't zoom in enough.
Need zoomed in way closer to see each breath...like this below.

Yes, like that.
Both of those flagged events look more like SWJ to me. I would ignore them if it were my report.
Arousal breathing irregularities and not asleep breathing.
Since there was evidence of arousal breathing prior to the flagged event I doubt that the arousal was related to the airway air flow being reduced. Most likely some other spontaneous type of arousal...turning over in bed maybe.

Compare the breathing pattern to the example I posted....nice rhythmic smooth breaths before and after the flags.
Pretty sure I was asleep when those happened and they were real.

It's not always easy to decide what they are...real or SWJ so we do the best we can.

Final thought about that small little cluster at 3:30...even if they had all been the real deal I don't know that I would worry much about 1 small cluster of events of such short duration unless I saw a lot of those real clusters like that happening during the night and for several nights.
I never get excited about random rare ugly stuff even if it is real.
I always factor in how I think I slept and how I feel when I look at my numbers.

Alright :). I turn and twist and flip a lot and I know our machines can't fix that. Its good to know that was SWJ.
