Hi all,
I have been on APAP therapy for about three weeks now and am finally to a point where I can wear a FFM through most of the night. I was titrated at 14 during my sleep study, but opted to buy my own machine for various reasons (I was not tolerating the constant pressure of 14).
I started at a pressure of 5-15 and have slowly made it up to 8-15. I am still seeing an AHI of 4-6. Should I continue to increase pressure until my events go down? I attached a screenshot of sleepyhead data.
Equipment list in case it doesn't show up:
- Dreamstation APAP
- F&P Simplus FFM
Thanks!

Re: Need help with next steps for APAP therapy
Welcome to the forum.
Your AHI is roughly a little less than half with CAs/centrals....put them on the back burner for now. You can't fix them with more pressure anyway. Mentally remove them from the evaluation process for now.
Try 1 more cm increase in your minimum...so up to 9 can give it about a week to settle in especially since you are just now getting to where you sleep decently with all this new stuff.
See what happens with the obstructive stuff (OAs, hyponeas, Flow limitations, snores) with just a little more baseline pressure.
That 14 cm RX...must have been a worse case scenario thing. I don't see you needing anywhere near that much all night long.
Might have only been needed when on your back or during REM or something.

Thanks @Pugsy! I'll give that a shot. It's interesting, some nights there will be only a few centrals and others there will be quite s bit (or what the machine interprets as centrals). Appreciate the input

I suspect some of the nights with a lot of "centrals" are probably nights with poor sleep quality and some false positive flagged centrals.
Awake/semi awake breathing flagged by mistake. Especially common with newbies because of simply not sleeping so great with all this new stuff on our face.

Not long ago I had a night with the AHI being 3 something...and a nice mixture of centrals, OAs and hyponeas. This was unusually high for me so I took the time to look at each flagged event up close......not a single one was the real deal. They were all arousal related and I wasn't asleep.
Kind of went along with the night I had anyway...just crappy sleep because of more pain than usual. Lots of tossing and turning trying to get comfortable and multiple brief awakenings.
