Please someone anyone help me. I am really really getting upset here. I just talked to my new DME and he said and I
"allergys do not affected the cpap treament because allergys only affecting the nose. So I don't need my cpap to auto adjust to compensate for them"
And I than informed him that its not my nose I am worried about. Its my throat and lungs. My throat starts to close up when I have allergy attacks mostly around this time of year. Than my chest gets congested so I can't breath very well. Heck I wish it was only my nose that was affected. That would be great if it was. I would buy a case of vick's vapor rub and be good to go. He answered really? (in a tone of voice that was saying he didn't believe me) But I did tell him that I felt his treatment of me yesterday sucked didn't use those words but still! I let him know I wasn't happy. I told him how I felt that on monday when we spoke about an auto and he said my insurance would cover it . That when I came in yesterday and he spent most of the time trying to sale me the Remstarpro with cflex I had with my old DME I wasn't thrilled thats when he said above. I'm tired and I want to scream, cry and hit someone. lol so I'm making this post.

I really don't know why the DMEs cannot offer to 'trade up" to an auto, for say, $100.00, and be done with this nonsense.

Maybe you should complain to his higher office.

I too have allergies and my auto had to go off the scale because of my restricted breathing. Ask him if he has sleep apnea or has spent a night or two under the mask. Then ask him to try that with bad allergies.
Sock it to him!!!!

Hope you get through the allergy season without many problems.

it seems things are fine with them DME's as long as you limit any conversation to 5-minutes or less

where is our DME advocate from the midwest that usually chimes in about this point to remind us all that DME's don't dictate what equipment you get, it is the doctor that does that, they only fill the prescription with exactly what the doctor has ordered. Maybe in a perfect world they do.

Now in your case, it appears your doctor has prescribed the autopap machine and the DME is now playing allergist and giving you a hard time with fulfilling what your doctor ordered.

I'd take the machine you have back to the DME (put it in a dirty old cardboard box with bird pooped newspaper on the bottom or something) and tell them you are returning it and going to a DME that will fill the order with what your doctor prescribed

Looks like the honeymoon is over with your DME, pat yourself on the back, you lasted longer than most
