Do all full face masks move/inflate on exhale?

I have the Dreamwear full face cushion mask. Upon exhale the silicon area of the mask inflates a bit and sometimes even makes a popping sound. While there is a good seal and it is comfortable. The movement is rather alerting when one tries to sleep. I am curious if other full face masks like the Resmed Airfit F20 have such movements too? They seem to be firmer.

Actually, ANY mask tends to do that; but the effect is generally proportional to the air volume inside the mask.
Cloth masks, like Sleepweaver, show the effect most profoundly, because they are so flexible.
Even nasal pillows will flex a bit, but it is very subtle.

Endorsing chunkyfrog's wisdom, I wear the AirFit F20 most nights (when it isn't too hot to wear) and yes, it does move/inflate.

You should see what happens with a bilevel and high pressure support!

If it bothers you, turn off EPR/*flex (as appropriate for your unnamed machine) and the pressure will stay constant.

You should see what happens with a bilevel and high pressure support!

Thanks I would have to get a new machine to try Bipap right? I will try the settings of turning flex off. Currently I am set to Flex mode 3.

Yes, you'd need a different machine.

And, actually, the mask inflates on *inhale* because the machine increases the pressure when inhaling, and drops the pressure when exhaling...
