Heating Icon:updated 7/31
Heating Icon:updated 7/31
hey, guys, looking for some help here. my PR System One 60 Series with heated tube doesn't seem to be functioning fully. the machine is about two years old and purchased brand new.
here's the symptom, which started 2 days ago. the heat indicator icon will flash slowly upon start up and never settles to the on position. after several seconds, it switches to blue and steady for the rest of the session, as far as i can tell. i mean, it's still blue in the morning.
i checked the humidifier tank this morning and it's warm but not particularly hot. and the air delivered through the hose is noticeably less heated.
is this a failure of the machine itself or of the heated tube? would it be economically feasible to have this fixed?
oddly enough, i had just posted in someone else's thread that if my machine broke, i'd go out and buy a new one. but now that it's actually happened, i'm wondering if i should just get it fixed.
obviously, i'm not in dire need of heated air in the hot desert summer. but i do like a bit of warm air even now. but at least i'll have time to make a decision before winter sets in.
what do you guys think? fix or replace?
thanks!

Re: Heating Icon
Do you have a brand new heated hose to see if it might be the culprit?
Do the old turn your machine on and let it run for 15 minutes (don't use the preheat feature) and then check the bottom of the water chamber for how hot it feels. It's never too hot to touch.. Warm yes...so hot it is uncomfortable to touch...no.

i'm running the machine right now to see how warm the tank gets. will let you know later.
one thing i forgot to mention in my original post and this might actually be key; in the steup menu, the heated tube humidification choice is set to off with a padlock icon in front of it. i don't seem to be able unlock that or set in to on.

Re: Heating Icon
You will need to get into the clinical setup menu and find where the setting is for letting the patient make changes to the humidifier (and I don't know the wording or where it is) and unlock it.
Regular setup menu won't get it.
If you were in the clinical setup menu...there is a way to unlock it but without seeing the choices in the menu I don't know which one it is.
My System One 60 series machine is out on loan right now so I can't pull it out and fire it up to see what the choices are and it's been too long.
Let me see if it's in the manual somewhere.

works much better from in there. no, no special choices, just on and off.
i must've accidentally done that when i was fooling with the humidity settings. flagstaff is high desert country. very little rain or humidity except during the "monsoon" season here in july. i'm not used to the weather here and suddenly noticed not only the rain but the humidity increased. so i turned things down willy nilly on the machine. must have did that turn off then.
anyway, thanks for your guidance. now i'll just bump that hose temp to the lowest setting and sleep peacefully.

Re: Heating Icon
Well I am glad that mystery is solved.
You would be surprised how easily we go in and do one thing and accidentally change something else.
A while back with my S9 machine I had this bright idea to change the clock for DST...so I did that without a problem and a few days later I was checking my data and it showed one night of no use at all which I knew wasn't right...then I got to looking..my calendar was a day in the future. I must have changed the calendar date when I was changing the clock.
Going backwards is no fun with a ResMed machine...involves erasing all the data because it won't let you go backwards if there is already data in that date.
So either I did it and didn't realize it...or the aliens were messing with me again.

Re: Heating Icon:updated 7/31
okay, so it turns out i could NOT change the lock out, even in clinician menu. thought i had, but clearly, it went back to it's locked state. so i give up.
i also noticed last night that it's making noise as well. so i'm ready to abandon it for a new machine.
see my post about asking for opinions on a new machine.....
