Minimum pressure question to reduce hypopneas

Post by MurrayNevada » Thu Jul 19, 2018 7:58 am

…………………..Min...………..Med.....95%...….Max
Pressure.....10.80...…….11.34....13.86...15.48

These numbers are fairly consistent. My AHI increases a bit when I use my Simplus FFM as I did last night (Sleepyhead Data below). I'd like to decrease the hypopneas. Should I raise my minimum pressure to accomplish that?

Why not just try it and see...what are you afraid will happen?

Not afraid to raise it. Just looking for a recommendation for a reasonable starting point. Funny thing is that I feel better and had less awakenings with last night's higher AHI than I usually do when my AHI is <1.

Sometimes hyponeas can be stubborn and sometimes easy to kill.
So there's not really any sort of "go to" amount of change that we can offer.
We don't know if they were maybe more related to sleeping position or sleep stage or even if they were real because you have so many wake ups and breaks in therapy at around the same time.

I personally like to proceed with caution at this stage of the tweaking especially when sleep quality is involved.
I would try something around 0.5 cm if it were me and since your machine does only 0.2 increments...maybe 0.6 more minimum.

And yeah, AHI doesn't always mean we feel like crap when it's higher than usual or like super man when it is really low.
One of my most remarkable miracle days in terms of how I felt followed a night with the AHI being 10.2...go figure that one.
I thought for sure it would be 0.0 or something like that but it was over 10...but I slept great and felt great. I think that is was because I got more REM...so I got better sleep quality in terms of sleep stages and percent in each stage. My OSA is worse in REM but I still got it and that better sleep overshadowed the number of events in REM in terms of the restorative powers of sleep.
Often when I have a really low AHI...all it means is I slept poorly and just didn't have many events because I didn't sleep well.
