ResMed AIR10 burnt smell upon starting

Post by Rmart82 » Wed Jul 04, 2018 8:44 am

My ResMed AIR10, which is a few years old, suddenly started smelling burnt 2 nights ago when you start it. As far as I know, nothing has changed. I put distilled water in it like I always do, it was recently cleaned. This morning, I took the hose off and started it to see it the smell may have been coming from the hose and it was still there. So it is not the hose or mask. Therefore it has to be something in the machine itself. The tank is clean, so I do not think it is that. I was wondering if anyone has experience this or hear of it?

It an Air Sense 10!

Air Start 10
Air Sense 10
Air Curve 10
Can you be specific?

Change the filter and run the machine near an open window and see if the smell goes away

obviously, no one here will smell exactly what you smell. bring it in to your dme so they can smell exactly what you smell. you could be sitting on a fire ready to happen.

When you say “it was recently cleaned”, if you’re talking about the unit itself, it makes me wonder, since you’re not supposed to clean it, just the hose, mask and humidifier.

When I say it was cleaned, I mean the hose, mask and humidifier. I am not new to using a CPAP, only this problem and this forum.
