Getting Encore Pro working
Getting Encore Pro working
Can anyone help with this Encore Pro error message?
https://imgur.com/VMEOuII
I have googled it and it comes up with links about style sheets...which I have heard of from building a WordPress site.
I cannot see however how this applies to Encore Pro...I have uninstalled and reinstalled, used an uninstall utility to be extra sure, changed the password successfully (apparently) using a specially written utility and then I get this message.
What gives?

SleepyHead will NOT work well with his particular type of machine which is a bit different than the usual.Jas_williams wrote: ↑Tue Jun 19, 2018 1:47 pmChalkie the latest version of Sleepyhead may work with you Philips machine have you tried it ? We have already tried that...no luck.
That particular error message I have never seen in Encore so I don't know what was being attempted to get that message to show up.

Well go for it then. I was not a party to the testing and I am waiting like everyone else for the new version.Jas_williams wrote: ↑Tue Jun 19, 2018 11:24 pmPugsy this is a NEW version of Sleepy head that Mark has been testing supporting a few extra machines I was after quick feed back if it would work I know chalkie tried the older version and it did not work correctly.
I hope I am wrong but I won't be holding my breath on it working.
Are you a party to the testing? If so, have him send you his cad contents and give it a go.

Mark's not actively working in any new importers at this moment, I know work was done on the Philips Importers so I am hoping it will just work if not the encore pro is still the only option.Pugsy wrote: ↑Wed Jun 20, 2018 12:00 amWell go for it then. Chalkie if you want to send me a zipped copy of your card, to test I can with the latest version of SleepyHead. If it does not work correctly and I see the same issues you did with it not decoding the data correctly if it is ok with you I can share it with mark and the others in the development team to see if they can work outwhats going on.

Re: Getting Encore Pro working
I just downloaded the latest version of Sleepyhead.
No better, unfortunately, if not worse. It used to read an hour's data - probably up to midnight. Now it is showing 100 per cent compliance but no data at all.
Jason I can definitely send you the data though just in case you can get it to work. Will send you a PM.
Otherwise, until this glitch is ironed out I have no way of monitoring my sleep data as Pugsy, who has kindly been helping me by running my data through Encore Pro, has issues with a Windows Update on her computer.
The steps I am taking with Encore Pro that lead up to the error message linked above are simply to enter my username and new password after using a utility sourced via the Apnea Board to unlock the programme.

Re: Getting Encore Pro working
It has been my experience that the little utility used to fix the log in problem doesn't work so great.
Encore Pro has a thing...if you fail to log in properly with 3 attempts then the whole damn thing locks up. There is some sort of tool available that is suppose to unlock it but no one I ever knew could get it to work and I tried it once and I couldn't.
The only thing I could ever do when locked up was uninstall and then reinstall and pray it let me to a typical install and not a custom install because the custom install involves some questions that I don't have any answers to.
This is why Encore is such a PITA...not so much for using it but for the high install failure rate.
The message you are getting is because the software has locked up because of 3 failed attempts to log in.
With Encore you have to log in exactly ...
EncoreAdmin is the user ID for first time then you can create others.
password1 is the first password
Encore defaults to a password expiration time frame of 90 days...and it will have expired so the first thing a person has to do after installing and doing the EncoreAdmin & password1 is change the password. The second thing I always recommend is change the expiration date for the password so it never expires.
If the tool you got to unlock the program doesn't work and you can't log in then you are screwed. I know of no way to get around it.
Now someone with a lot of programing skills might figure out a hack but that isn't me.
If you try to install again and can't get the "typical" install option and instead get the "custom" option then you are screwed because it's going to ask for some information that you won't have or understand. Again someone with more computer skills than me might be able to figure it out but that's not me.

Re: Getting Encore Pro working
Yeah, that happened to me as well. No option for the "typical"' install and there's some stuff in the custom install that I didn't understand.
I ended up having to wait until time for a new computer and tried again.
The uninstall is a dirty uninstall and I suspect it leaves just enough crap on your computer to trigger the custom install instead of the other choice. At least that is what I suspect. I could be all wrong. There is zero patient support for Encore from Respironics because we aren't suppose to use it. If you were a doctor's office or DME Respironics would help you out. They won't help patients with the software.
Sorry but I don't know how to fix your problem. I had it and couldn't sort through it and ended up waiting until a new computer was in my budget. ....and then I just got lucky.
You are at the mercy of your health care provider to give you the software reports.
Now you do have overall nightly AHI available on the machine's LCD screen which is better than nothing.
Do you know how to get it?
The provider manual over from the apneaboard will explain how. You have to go into the clinical setup menu and turn on "Show AHI" and then you can get the information available on the LCD screen.
If it is high...you know it still isn't working well for you at these new settings.

Well, I gave Encore Pro one last try tonight before buying a cheap new laptop just to use with this software. - using my trusty and rarely used old laptop.
And...drum roll...it worked! I'm in!
Now all have to do is figure out how to use it...

Re: Getting Encore Pro working
Here's what I used to give people back when Pro was all that was available.
It's all in the Help section but hard to know what to look for.
It's all in the Help section but hard to know what to look for.
Install can take a while, especially the SQL server section. I have seen reports of it taking over an hour (depends on computer speed) so don't be alarmed if it appears to freeze.
With first opening of the software you will be prompted to log in with user ID and a password.
Use this user ID exactly and password exactly as I have typed. Both are case sensitive.
EncoreAdmin
password1
It will likely tell you that the password has expired and prompt you to enter a new password.
You can choose what you wish. I was real creative and chose password2 because it was easy to remember. You can choose whatever you wish. Once inside the software you can create a new user if you wish and also change the password expiration date for EncoreAdmin. I just use EncoreAdmin log in ID because it is easy to remember and it is also the supreme administrator. Password defaults expiration days is 90 days but you can change it to 0 and then passwords never expire. This has to be done when logged in under EncoreAdmin as I can't find password default status under a different User. It seem to affect all users though. Company Settings tab then Preferences tab to get to edit password days. I can find how to change password on extra users but not EncoreAdmin password.
Don't mess up the password 3 times in EncoreAdmin log in a row or you will be locked out of the software and I haven't found a way to fix it.
EncoreAdmin password is by default set to expire in 90 days....go change that to 0 days. Log In and Password are case sensitive.
I think it is best to create another user Log In ID with its password also set for 0 days. Use that Log In ID instead of the main EncoreAdmin log in ID. If you mess the alternate ID up with password mistakes you can use EncoreAdmin log in to go into the program to fix it. If EncoreAdmin log in gets messed up...no one to fix it.
Remember this software was designed for doctors and clinics/DMEs so most of this stuff you won't ever use.
A few things to change once within the software.
Time Zone. The default Time Zone is GMT and if you don't change it the reports will be split and look weird. Go to Company Settings tab. Then double click on the blue Encore Company under office names to open this page area where you can click on the "EDIT" button and change the time zone to your time zone. DST time observed will bring it within one hour. For some reason before the recent DST change the time was perfect but now it is one hour early. I am hoping that when the "normal" DST change comes around this will fix itself. Otherwise, this is what we have and this fall changing it back to not observed will correct it. It is close enough either way. It is in this area you can create a new user if you wish.
You will need to create a new patient before downloading data. This is described in the help section in more detail if you need it.
To add a new patient:
Click the Patients tab.
The Patient List is displayed.
Click the Add New link.
The Add/Edit Patient window is displayed. All fields marked with an asterisk (*) are mandatory.
Enter the patient's name and address information. You can just enter initials if you wish so that reports are anonymous if posting on the forum.
Click the Save button to save the information and exit the Add/Edit Patient window.
Downloading Data from Card
To download therapy data from a data card:
Insert a data card into the reader/writer on your computer and connect the data card reader/writer to your computer. Some computers have a built in card reader. The software will look for the data card.
Select a patient to view in the Patients window.
Click the Download icon (image doesn't show here but it is the little orange looking square by patient name with a small plus on it) and choose Download from Device from the pop-up menu.
The Data Card Utilities window is displayed.
The data on the card is evaluated and compared to the currently displayed patient. First time you may get a message that this card doesn't belong to this patient. Proceed anyway.
If the patient information on the card matches the currently displayed patient, the data is read from the card and a ”Successful Acquisition” message is displayed upon completion.
(Optional) Click the Erase card after successful download check box if you want to erase the card after the download. For users with DT3500 card reader UNCHECK THIS BOX OR THE CARD WILL BE ERASED There is no way to change this default. So do this each time if you think your DME may want the card or if you don't want to erase the card. This seems to pertain to users using the DT 3500 card reader. SD users don't see this default item selected.
(Optional) Click the Card is to be returned to the same patient check box if you want to assign the card to the patient after the download.
Click the Download button to read the compliance data from the data card and apply it to the currently displayed patient. A ”Successful Acquisition” message is displayed upon completion. This process can be slow.
If the patient information on the card does not match a patient already in the system, a "The media does not belong to an active EncorePro patient" message is displayed. You may see this message at first download. Ignore and proceed.
Click Exit to close the Data Card Utilities window.
To view your reports go to the THERAPY page under Patients tab, click on "DETAILED DATA" in lower left corner to get all the different reports. The default is for summary data only.
Only the last 7 days of detailed data are saved in this area. Summary data is always there. Detailed data older than 7 days is available in the History tab. You can also save to pdf if you wish.
The default password expiration time is 90 days. You can change this in the Company Settings tab and then Preferences tab. Easily seen to Edit. In this same area is the Leak reported choice. It defaults to "unintentional leak" or excess leak. You can change it to total leak if you wish. This leak is close but not absolute because no where in the software do you input the exact mask and intentional vent rate. So don't be alarmed if it numbers are off a bit. Example, my mask has vent rate of 35 at my pressure but if I choose Total Leak I often see total leak as 28 L/min. Go figure... It is close. I really just look at the leak line itself and don't pay all that much attention to the leak average. If line is more or less straight, that is sufficient.
Rest of the stuff is more for doctors and clinics. Poke around if you wish. The Help section explains some things but other than numbers and a general glossary of terms it leaves you to decide if what you see is acceptable. Remember this software was designed for people who already should know what each data field means in relation to therapy.

Great, thanks.
For some reason, it automatically did the full install on the laptop. Maybe because there was less junk on there from previous attempts.
