Need help with mouth breathing issue

Post by inyourdreams » Thu Jun 21, 2018 1:59 pm

I have been using a CPAP machine for several years. When I started using the machine, I was given a headband to use because I am a mouth breather. I had wonderful results for a long time. I felt rested and had energy, but the last few months I have felt less rested and been dragging. I am afraid it is from mouth breathing. I taped my mouth for a long time (I know it is not recommended and highly frowned upon, but it worked) but I am under a lot of stress and grind my teeth in my sleep so I have been taping less often. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I can keep my mouth closed? I use an Opus 360 Nasal Pillow mask and always have. I just need some advice. Thanks in advance.

I needed to keep my mouth closed and did try taping my lips while testing a nasal mask. My lips did stay closed but air ballooned my cheeks and I had much difficulty expelling that air. I found myself swallowing air and it caused some stomach discomfort.

Yes, I have had that issue as well. I really need to find a solution. I read on this forum about The Ultimate Chin Strap, but don't know where to purchase it.

that headband has likely stretched over time so that it no longer works so well. i use hairbands and that happens to me. putting them in the washer and dryer gets them sort of back into shape. still, i have buy more on a regular basis.

this may be the method you're using-

works very well for me. i use two instead of one because of my big mouth! :)

i also use a soft cervical collar to help keep my chin up.

good luck!
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.
