Mask Advice Please

Hello Fellow C-Pap-ers,

It has been a long haul of trying to find a mask that works well for me.
I have tried many masks, usually I like more minimalist type of masks - The ones I have used the most were-
1. Swift FX for her
2. AirFit P10 for her
3. DreamWear (both types of pillows)

Some things I have found to be uncomfortable is to have the prongs sticking in my nose. The dreamwear I used for over 2 years, but somehow the last year of using it, it seemed to get out of place during the night and made a terrible whistling noise and it was hard to get it to fit back properly during the night.

Also, A few months ago, I started having this horrible rash around my mouth/face, as my skin has been ultra sensitive-

I really like the idea of using a cloth mask and most recently got the SleepWeaver Elán (this is the only one I can get with Kaiser through Apria) - I got the large size one, and then shifted to using the medium size (that I got used), and it is hard to get it to fit just right so that there is no air leakage. I am not even sure which one is the appropriate size for me.

Any suggestions? Tomorrow I will be meeting with my Respiratory Therapist and hopefully I can come up with some suggestions of a new mask for me to try out.

Have you looked at the Brevida from F & P? The pillow is quite soft but the down side is that it sort of wraps around the nose a bit and if you are developing a sensitivity to the silicone that might be a negative for sure.

Have you ever tried using one of Karen's (padacheek.com) barrel cozies on any of the nasal pillows you have used?

Is the rash just where the mask touches the skin or other areas nearby also?

Sorry, I am zero help with the cloth masks. I never used one more than try one on once and didn't like it at all. Didn't even bother trying to get it to seal.

I can't think of anything else at the moment that might fit your preference list that you haven't tried.

I did try the Brevida, while I was waiting for my cloth mask to arrive from Kaiser. The first night it was very comfortable, but then I didn't like the feel of it on my nose. . .

The rash I had was on my lips, mouth and chin and a little above my lips. I believe when the rash was so intense, anything touching near it was causing it to be worse. I am grateful that at this moment the rash on my face has gone away, although that was the second time in this past year and half, that I had a rash on my face - included my cheek area the first time I had it.

Maybe my RT will have some ideas tomorrow when I go visit with her.
