As far as I'm concerned, the UMFF remains the best one out there, too bad the company that makes it sucks.
Snoredog,

Curious as to why you feel this way. I really like the Resmed masks (I've had original Mirages for 6 years and now just got a Mirage Activa which I REALLY like).

Do you feel the same way about their machines?

I read Snoredog's comment as liking the mask, just not liking the company that makes it. Their sales policies may be why he (and quite a few other people) feel that way:

Thanks, Rested Gal, I was wondering why ResMed's products were so expensive here relative to other manufacturers!

It's really not a good idea to do that- the exhaust vent has been calibrated to allow a certain amount of airflow so that the pressure and flowrate are correct for the mask. Interfering with this will adversely affect it's performance. A different thing to try would be to clean that exhaust vent piece really good and then put it back into place. You might even try calling or emailing ResMed to see if you can get a replacement part. Maybe if enough people bring this whistling to their attention they can improve that piece somehow... here's hoping, I guess.
