I have a Dreamstation Auto Bipap.
Thanks

Re: Auto Bipap vs Fixed Bipap
Switch it back if you're getting better results on auto .. Why didn't you ask your Dr?

I did I can't remember what she said, but I know I wasn't really happy with it. I got a feeling Auto takes a little more time to fine tune the settings.

You should be paying more attention if this treatment is serious to you ..

Agreed, but at the time I didn't know enough to understand or ask question. I'm preparing for my next appointment.

Without seeing some data for several weeks, it's hard to say. Maybe you have been all over the place with auto and he/she wants to stablize your tmt and see what happens.
Could you post some sleepyhead daily charts for the experts and let them take a look?
Re: Auto Bipap vs Fixed Bipap
Write down your questions. It helps when you go to any appointment. Also, it is perfectly reasonable to contact the doctor's office after your appointment with questions or have them explain again why they are doing something. As to why you are on fixed, no idea. Could be habit (many docs still stick with fixed pressure). If there is a reason, it would be good for her to explain that reason.

What does your sleep data show? That will tell the story. Are you using SleepyHead or Encore?

Re: Auto Bipap vs Fixed Bipap
If I were using high pressures while living at high altitude, I might choose straight bilevel over auto myself in order to prevent obstruction without triggering centrals. But that's just me and my body. Your question for your doc is what his reasoning is for his prescription and recommendations.
Autobilevel is confusing to some sleep docs and some DME RRTs, since the proprietary approaches from the manufacturers differ in mysterious ways in their algorithms.
You should attempt to get clarity on your exact diagnosis and recommended treatment in order to know what you need to learn about. Then you will know what questions to ask here when you post the data from the straight bilevel trial.

Re: Auto Bipap vs Fixed Bipap
After 7 years on this journey, I would never aquire or us anything but an auto.
Depending on my data and how I feel, I might narrow the range on the auto. I know that my needs change throughout the night so I want my machine to change with me.

Thanks now with your help I remember she made the change for altitude reasons. I think I will switch back to auto bipap and try to find a narrow range for the settings. I'll post SH data once I'm comfortable with my new settings. Thanks so much for the help!
