There really is a difference

Post by quilterB » Sun Oct 29, 2006 2:51 pm

Well last night I did not use my cpap equipment. I was watching my infant granddaughter who was not well. I did not want to miss hearing her. She had a rough night, but I was able to sleep for about 4 hours. I woke at least every hour and had a headache in the morning. I have been on cpap since May and have not felt like I was getting much in the way of results. Last night proved I was wrong. There have definitely been subtle differences. I remembered that I used to wake multiple times during the night and not just to use the bathroom. I don't do that anymore. I also woke almost daily with a headache and that is now very rare. I guess my point to newbies and others is to keep plugging away. Even though I am still tired during the day (but not quite as much), this proves that the therapy is working. I must just have a large sleep debt.

Perseverance will win out!!

It took me a year

Post by hughusa9 » Sun Oct 29, 2006 6:53 pm

It took me a year before I had it all sorted out. I feel great now. Like a real person for the first time in my life, truely. I have a Respironics Auto with CFlex and a Activa nasal mask. The 10 ft hose helps a lot. I ran it up to a 3M wall anchor about 3 ft over my head and then down so the hose doesn't get in the way when I role over.
Time and a lot of trying will put you on the right rode.
Good Luck, Hugh of Chaska, MN

Thanks for sharing your experience Linda, hopefully it will provide some encouragement to others to persevere.
Like you, it took me a while to notice an improvement and it was gradual, rather than the sudden and immediate improvement that the fortunate few experience.
Hope your granddaughter is better.
