I might be going crazy.
I have had my S8 elite for 12 years. Set anywhere from 14 to 18 depending on the year and what was needed to keep my AHI under 5. It was still not always under 5. My average has been about 4. Not too bad. But that has been my normal.
Got the Airsense autoset 10 for her....started using it this past weekend. My ahi is sitting at 0 for the past 2 nights. Showing 3 centrals last night and one RERA. No HI, no AI.
I don't know how to feel about that. Is this such a better machine? Should I consider the idea that after 12 years, massive weight gain, massive weight loss, 2 pregnancies, and all the other changes my body has been through that I might not even have sleep apnea any more? THAT sounds crazy and I know that isn't how it works.
My brain is just having a hard time processing the very big difference. The kicker.......my pressure has gone nowhere near 16 (which is the pressure I have been titrated at during 2 different sleep studies).
Anyone else have a sudden major improvement and instead of shrugging and celebrating find themselves freaked out and wondering what is going on?
Freaked out by GOOD numbers?
Re: Freaked out by GOOD numbers?
There was a significant auto adjusting algorithm change when ResMed went from the S8 to the S9 and the AirSense machine has the same algorithm as the S9.
In addition to the auto algorithm change I think there was a change in the criteria to cause a flag in the first place.
I know a lot of people who were using S8 machines ended up with a lower AHI when going to the S9 machines no matter if they were using the auto adjusting algorithm or fixed pressures.
In general I like to think that the newer machines is "better" and more accurate.

Re: Freaked out by GOOD numbers?
The S8 always overstated Hypopnias. As soon as I changed to the S9, my Hypopnias were cut in half.

Well, that remains to be seen
Yes.

Since your new machine records WAY more data than the old one, you can drop the data into sleepyhead, and zoom in and look at every breath you took all night long, look for any 10 second or longer pauses that the machine didn't flag.
After you actually look at your breathing, you'll likely have more confidence in it.

Re: Freaked out by GOOD numbers?
I have it all in sleepyhead now.
I wish I had gotten a new machine many years ago. This thing is amazing. So much more quite, so much easier to breath like a real human being and clearly just producing much better results for me.
Now I just have to work on the quantity of my sleep. The 3 year old is still up twice a night and I am in school myself right now so am up doing school work way to late some nights. The house still needs cleaning. There are not enough hours in the day. It is a good thing that I dont have to prove compliance at this point....because 2 nights this week I got less than 4 hours of sleep. Last night was 5.5.

Well, ya'know, if you'd just quit going to bed at all, you'd have HOURS more time to do stuff every day!
