Why insurance costs are high

I agree. I'm not opposed to having a spare part should your machine or mask go down, but stockpiling for profit is wrong. Does anyone know if it is illegal?

It isn't illegal, It isn't fraud. It is Stupid, greed caused by INS Companies paying for excessive replacement items, and not monitoring the real needs of customers. (They allow it) After all the more they pay out the more they can charge, the consumer. (US, The Gov (US) or the Company that carries your INS. (US) ) The People that pay for your corruption and graft in hoarding, in higher prices for what they sell!

We all pay for what Stupid People do every day, that will not change, because we too are the stupid people that allow it! Jim

I guess everyone's idea of stockpiling is different. People sell things on the forum all the time -- things that don't work for them for one reason or another. It's not illegal.

Maybe we shouldn't allow the selling of cpap equipment on the forum... only donating???

You *absolutely* need to have a spare of everything, otherwise, you're waiting to go get replacements, or have them shipped to you.

Lucy...Did you read the ad carefully? There were 16 Swift FX Masks...15 Swift FX Pillows...3 Water Chambers...3 Hoses....etc

It could be the patient defrauding the insurance company. It could be the dme defrauding the insurance company. If a government insurance was involved, it would be one of them defrauding the government.

It could also be someone selling a very high hour machine and repackaged used supplies. Never say never.

I've had insurance when I had to pay 20% copay, had insurance with no copay, had insurance with no CPAP coverage, and now back to 20% copay. The no CPAP coverage was tough. No job and no CPAP coverage. Out of pocket, masks and mask parts are expensive. I learned to find those items at less than retail.

To wit, since being back to 20% copay, I am quite frankly scared of losing coverage again. So I stockpiled in the eventuality. I was not looking to profit, just h ave the supplies for the rainy day. Now, I've changed mask sizes. I have a stockpile of masks, which I'll sell as "assembly kits," (which is legal) and cushions. Because of eBay, PapPal, and shipping (mostly shipping), I have to charge a little more than I paid for them. I need to get back my original copay. But if I can get them sold on Craigslist with local pickup, I can charge less.

What the guy is offering seems to be a reasonable price to get his money back. It just seems that over the past few years, he's tried a bunch of different masks and has a lot of them leftover, mostly from changeover. If he's getting a new machine, it seems that the masks should stay.

They are ALL from the same mask. He most likely got these through insurance with paying little,
