Re: Who pays for Resmed cellular connection
As limited as MyAir is on the data they provide, I am surprised anyone will bother.

Re: Who pays for Resmed cellular connection
Somewhere on here there is a thread on how to open up the new Resmed machine and unhook the modem, I searched but couldn't find it but it's here. I found it, it's on the first page at the start. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=104578&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=modem

Maybe this is the thread. It points to 2 other links about how to disable. viewtopic/t114987/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1 ... m#p1105087squid13 wrote:Somewhere on here there is a thread on how to open up the new Resmed machine and unhook the modem, I searched but couldn't find it but it's here.

That references a thread over at the Apneboard but I'm barred from that site so I couldn't go there to check it but the thread that is in my previous post has pictures and instructions on how to do it if your mechanically inclined to do that sort of stuff.

Re: Who pays for Resmed cellular connection
Thanks. I'm getting an Airsense 10 Autoset this week with only 200 hours pretty cheap. I can use that info as a bargaining chip in case he tries to change the price. Good reason not to buy just a used brick. Obviously the dealer can reset Myair, They gave me a "new" machine with over 100 hours on it. Have to learn how to use Sleepy Head now. Amazing how much you don't know when you start therapy.klv329 wrote: Just for fun I tried to register a used machine on MyAir but it won't allow a registered SN to be used by another user. I assume the prior owner could disassociate the SN from their MyAir account, but I don't know. So my current usage is going to the prior owner's account, but I assume they don't care and probably turned off email alerts or whatever. Anyway, MyAir is useless.
edit: i can't delete my other machine's SN from MyAir. Not sure if I can delete the account, either. Just turned off all notices. maybe it is there forever.

Re: Who pays for Resmed cellular connection
Resmed has a contract with Sprint for cellular connectivity services on their CDMA 3G network since it doesn't require high speed LTE data. I am trying to find the paperwork where I read this. It was given to me when I got the machine but I think it was marketing material to healthcare providers, not end users.
Re: Who pays for Resmed cellular connection
Who pays for Resmed cellular connection? The short answer is Resmed but not by much.
They use technology developed for Tank Farms. Consider for example a crude oil tank with pre-determined liquid levels LL,L, H, HH (low-low, low, hi and hi-hi). The pump shutdown at LL (will burn the pump if dry), start at L, stop at H (tank is full) and definitely shut down the pump at HH (case in which the H level failed). The classic wiring control method would be cost prohibitive. On the other hand modern cellular technology is both reliable and inexpensive for the way it works. It uses an opportunistic method.
The cell radio in the tank pops up on the air to listen for traffic. This is not a voice communication that has to keep continuity. If frequency is available then the radio transmits its data. It takes only seconds or perhaps milliseconds to transmit its data and the cost is proportional (infinitesimally small).
