replace supplies
replace supplies
I'm ordering a new hose and mask...didn't realize they needed to be replaced so often! So...the hose - no problem. I need a new face mask and head gear. When I look on Amazon they list a "seal" and a face mask. What do I order? Thanks in advance for your input! Can't make it without my machine!!

They don't *need* to be replaced until they show signs of wear.mamasue wrote: ↑Sun Feb 25, 2018 4:25 pmI'm ordering a new hose and mask...didn't realize they needed to be replaced so often! Of course, the people who sell you shit want you to buy the stuff at ridiculous intervals.

Re: replace supplies
Most masks do not wear out. The silicone portion of the mask may quit sealing properly or may get damaged by rough handling. Head gear may stretch out and need to be adjusted. Insurance companies have set intervals when they will replace certain items due to normal wear and tear. Many of these items never wear out. My hose and water chamber are almost three years old and show no signs of wearing out. DMEs will try to convince you to purchase supplies you do not need in order to maximize their profits. I recommend you keep one spare of everything and replace items only when they need to be changed. With my insurance, I have zero out of pocket expenses, but I only change things when they need to be changed, not just because I can get a new one free.

Growing old is mandatory, but growing up is optional.
Re: replace supplies
I agree...Hoses will last for years....If it bothers you replace every year. Masks are plastic ...they don't wear out. When the cushion or pillows leak air they may need replacing,but even then they will last months and months. As PR mentioned...your supplier will encourage replacement. That's how they get their profit.

Re: replace supplies
I keep a few more pillows for backup, because it took so long to find this mask;
and it is many times better than the second pace mask.

Re: replace supplies
I've used the same hose for 2-3 years, complete with handyman repairs to the pussycat perforations (duct tape works wonders). I've used the same set of nose pillows out of necessity for well over a year with no ill effect on my therapy. Replace *as needed* not abridging to the salesman's recommendation.
