Whistler

Only a hosehead could appreciate this one.

So, sometime around very late or very early this morning I slowly became aware of a loud continuous whistle in the house. My first thought was the teapot and I was oversleeping but a one-eye-closed (Activa) look at the clock dispelled that idea. Besides, as I woke the whistle went away. Thinking it was yet another bizarre dream I went back to sleep. A short while later the whistle came back, and seemed even louder and clearer. My first thought this time was someone left a TV or computer on and it was making noise. Again, the noise stopped as soon as I was “fully” awake. Upon waking the third time -- must be late night vidio or computer games --, I was very irritated and ready to track down the culprit. I clinched my teeth and lips together in getting ready to do the angry dad thing and the noise stopped.

My lips had been open ever so slightly and my tongue was just in the right place to force air through the little gap between my front teeth causing the loud whistle! After finishing laughing, I grabbed some tape from the night table (not a regular taper but its there for those slack-jawed nights) and went back to sleep. My wife only remembers the laughing and thought I was having a pretty good dream.

At least the tape was close by.

With threads about CPAP theme songs, it looks like Chris' theme song can be "Whistle While You Sleep" (instead of "Whistle While You Work")

If I could control the notes I could "sing" my wife to sleep. On second thought, maybe that wouldn't be appreciated.

Gonzo,

That is novel having only experienced the dreaded 'hissssss'

My nickname for that is 'snakebreath'.

But a whistle, yes that was funny.

Hey Gonzo,
Between my bubbling tear ducts and your whistle we can form a new rock band and recoup some of the $ we spend on cpap stuf:roll:

Having played trombone all through high school, and given my fondness for the eponymous steak, my screen name makes a lot of sense here.
