Is this normal? Regarding physical condition of CPAP machine

Post by tchan » Mon Jan 29, 2018 11:05 pm

Hey all, I recently purchased a F&P Sleepstyle Auto from a healthcare provider after trialing it.

Is it normal for a brand new machine's lid to make squeaky noises when it gets opened? Also there are scuff marks (image below). I'd just like a second opinion because I'm a bit concerned since it cost me a lot of money and the breathing tube from the same package was broken and my consultant had to get a spare from the back. Would it be unreasonable to want a new machine replacement as I have warranty?

I would use img tags except it gets really large and takes up the entire screen.

Some providers give out used machines for trials then switch to a new one if the patient is going to go ahead with treatment.
Some insurances cover on a rental basis for a time period after which that same machine is considered owned by the user. - New machine from start.
Some insurances purchase a machine outright - Should be a new machine.
Some insurances are a permanent rental. New/used doesn't matter from a value point as the provider will replace it if needed.

What you don't want is to get stuck with a machine you own that has a significantly limited life span, is out of or will be out of warranty sooner than a new one, with replacement at your or your insurance's expense. I am not at a point right now to look it up for accuracy, but someone will come along and let you know how to check the hours. There's two sets of hours on a machine. One can be reset, the other is over the life of the machine. You can check for a discrepancy, and if so, ask here if it is significant. I think a few hours is acceptable, but someone else will be more helpful on this.
