3B Luna auto CPAP

Post by Emmet » Thu Jan 25, 2018 7:58 am

My local Medicare DME provider "who always accept the Medicare-approved amount as payment in full for all claims for the product category" offers a 3B Luna auto CPAP machine; does anyone have personal experience with one of these?
Upgrading to a Resmed Airsense 10 would be an additional $400, which might not sound like much to some folks, but is actually quite a lot when you're on Social Security.

If this is a Medicare purchase, the DME CANNOT LEGALLY charge any extra for the Airsense. They get paid the same amount whether they give you the Cheap Luna or the Airsense.. Your DME is scamming you. Threaten to report them to Medicare if they do not give you the Airsense AUTO. They could be removed as an authorized Medicare providor.

Medicare would pay the same to the DME for the AirSense 10 AutoSet as they would pay for the Luna.
The DME just wants to make more money by dispensing the cheaper Luna.
You shouldn't have to pay the upgrade fee... I think that qualifies as balanced billing and specifically against Medicare rules.

Is there a different DME that you could use in your area? I wouldn't give these creeps one dime of my money.
Do you have a Medicare supplement?

Not many forum members here using the 3 B brand at all. It's not a high seller except for DMEs who are only interested in their profit margin.

You don't get the detailed data that ResMed offers. With the 3 B you use an icode thing and you get only summary information....no detailed data.
You get
compliance hours, average pressure, AHI, snore index, and leak rate
which isn't detailed at all IMHO despite what they call it.

No heated hose capability,
Not many reviews and only 1 was a good review..available at the product page link above.

It's a cheap Chines knock off of the ResMed models...I wouldn't have one if they gave it to me.
I think I remember one person here having one and complaining about noise....but I can't be sure.
