Finally my new machine

So my AirSense 10 Autoset with heated tubing arrived today.....

It took 3 months of haggling with American Home Patient but I am hoping it will be worth it.......

I am still seeking a full face mask that I can use and be able to stop taping my mouth shut each night.......

My New DME ( NOT American Home Patient as they are being taken over ) is sending an RT out to over the equipment and she is bringing me an Air Touch 10 to try. She told me it has memory foam instead of the usual silicon and should work just fine for me..... Keeping my fingers crossed on this one.....

Any special things I should about the above, or questions I should ask of the RT when she arrives tomorrow would be appreciated.......

My old S8 autoset has served me well for quite a few years..... maybe I will keep it as a door stop for remembrance....LOL

The AirTouch masks with the foam cushion....don't wash them. Soap and water will accelerate the foam deterioration.
Also don't try it one night and put it in the drawer for a month...just being exposed to the air will cause some deterioration of the foam. Time is hard on it unlike the regular silicone. So give it a good trial right off the bat and don't hide it away to try again later. 6 months from now the foam won't be of much use.

For cleaning the foam just wipe it down gently with some sort of wipe or moist cloth. Don't soak it in anything. If it were me I would also avoid wipes with alcohol in them. Mainly because of the drying properties of alcohol and I would think it might accelerate the foam breakdown.

My DME uses the F20 AirTouch full face mask with the foam cushion. ResMed says replace it every 30 days but he says he can get about 3 months out of it before it starts to break down too much.
Insurance will allow once cushion per month so even if you can't get more than 30 days out of the cushion it's not a deal breaker hopefully in terms of co pay.

I haven't used it overnight. I did get a chance to put it to my face just to see what it felt like. I liked it better than the silicone version. I don't like anything on the bridge of my nose area (where eyeglasses rest) and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it wasn't too bad at all.
One of these days if I get a chance I might try to sleep with it just to see if I can and that's saying something since I am a nasal pillow girl.

As far as the machine...if you don't just love it I will be really surprised. It's light years ahead of the S8 models.

If you are getting the heated hose...start out with "auto" setting and see how you like it and you can adjust from there.
Auto works well for the majority of users...that's why they do auto as the default setting.

If not using a heated hose then punt....it will most likely use more water than your S8 used so don't be surprised if it does.

I have two S8 machines that I choose to use for backup and travel. Great machines for travel, imo. Worth keeping if still working. But they make for lousy doorstops. Just sayin'.

Maybe half a lightyear, at most. One of mine made the Kessel Run in less that 12 parsecs. She's fast enough . . .
