I have silverlining 3 software for my 320E machine. What kind of cable do I use to download info from the unit to a Dell laptop (It has 2 USB ports and 1 15 pin port.) The connection sold from CPAP ends in a 9 pin female. What kind of adapter do I get to use this with my laptop?

I can't help you much but if you call cpap.com they will help you. Don't worry if you didn't get the equipment from them, they will help anyway.

the 15-pin port is for video, cannot use that. You need a RS-232 serial port for the Silverlining. If your laptop does NOT have one (most newer laptops don't).
then you need to get a USB-to-RS232 adapter. It will have a DB-9 module on one end and a USB cable on the other. this converts a USB port to RS-232 serial.
I would AVOID getting the adapter from Belkin (bought 2 they did NOT work). the only one I found that worked is the one from IConcepts ($29.95 from COMP-USA). It comes with a software disc, you install the software FIRST then reboot the laptop then plug in the serial adapter to the USB port, it should find it and now you have a serial port for Silverlining to use.

Best-Buy has Belkin and Targus and I think IConcepts brand or one similar, I have not tried the Targus.
Plug the P&B special cable into the back of the machine in the telephone jack port, then into the serial adapter on the laptop.
this is the cable you should have gotten with the Silverling software:
