Hello from West Virginia

Post by grannyt » Fri Dec 29, 2017 5:51 pm

Today, I got the results of my overnight oximeter.

When awake before sleep = 99%
5 dips to 80% during the night
awaken 41 times per hour

Dr. referred me to sleep study

Major anxiety about all this.

I have been reading all I can here.

Thank you for an amazing place for info and encouragement.
Why did she make things? Well, she enjoyed it, of course; but it also somehow helped her remember who she was and where she came from.

Hello back from Kearneysville, West Virginia!

I just had a sleep study done in November. It was fine, there was nothing to be anxious about. I got used to the wires almost immediately, the only difficulty I had was the blue light form the monitoring equipment because I sleep in almost cave darkness.

I'm extremely glad that I did it and have a solution. Granted, I'd love to pop a pill and make it better, but being able to breath at night and to see positively that my tiredness during the day absolutely correlates to my apnea results on a cpap is already transforming my world.

Welcome to the forum. If you are doing an in lab study, ask your doctor for something to help you sleep. You will have several wires connected to various places on your body in addition to sleeping in a strange place which makes it difficult to sleep for many people. My sleep specialist prescribed Ambien for me when I had my sleep studies done. This enabled me to sleep well enough they completed the study without any problems.

Hello grannyt! Nothing to worry about. A sleep study really is a simple, painless process. Yes, there are lots of wires, but they can disconnect you quickly if you need the bathroom. My only advice is to bring warm jammies. My room was cold in the beginning and took forever to warm up.

All the best,
MrsRinPDX
