Answers for Interesting situation last night?

Post by AMESS » Wed Nov 29, 2017 7:46 am

Fell asleep with machine on. Woke up and it felt like a stuffy nose and hard to breathe. Futzed around turning machine on and off for a long time and still
hard to breath. Finally woke husband. He got up and did something (does not remember what) and suddenly air started coming through hose.

Sleepy head showed during part of the night I went up to 20. Unusual for me. Stays at 14. Showed no unusual events.

Question--1 - Can the machine register breathing if its turned off?

2 - Does anyone know what happened?

3 - Could the hose in moving around have turned off the machine somehow?

Kinked or crushed hose blocking or severely restricting airflow?
Phillips 960 AutoSV Paving Brick, Phillips Dreamwear Mask - Nothing is working.
Diagnosis of crappy sleep, desats under 80, maybe UARS

Hmmmmm--maybe -who knows what happens when we twist and turn around in bed----other than we are not getting restful sleep. Hahahaha--not funny

Actually, yours is the best answer so far!

Which mask were you using?
Nasal pillow mask? If so, those sometimes will have the inner cones get sort of out of position and can cause a reduction in air flow.
And as already mentioned a crimp in the hose is also a possibility.
Also I have had the nasal pillows on the P10 size XSmall try to climb up inside my nostrils and that cuts off the air flow. Happened several times before I realized what the deal was so I went to the size Small and it never happened again.

The Swift FX has those inner cones I was talking about. If it happens again take the mask off and put your finger through the inside of the pillows to push the cones back out into proper position and see if that helps or not. Sometimes the inner cone sort of collapses or closes up on itself and when that happens it restricts the air flow.
Make sure when you wash the pillows that the inner cone isn't sideways. When I wash my pillows the last thing I always do is take my little finger and insert it up inside the pillows to make sure that inner cone is in proper position.
I don't know that is what happened to you but it is possible.
