What size inverter

Post by YBNORMEL » Tue Nov 07, 2017 6:04 pm

I have a resmed elite, just looking for any advice from someone that has travelled in a RV or boat and had to use an inverter to run their cpap. I won't be taking the heater or tank.

Maybe a more power friendly brand as a travel camping unit would be useful we all need a second unit as a fall back. A Remstar that runs in 12 volts D.C. that way all you need is a properly fused cable to fit it, and the power draw would be less drain on your battery system. Jim.

Better to get the 12 volt resmed adapter, it uses much less battery power.

I live on a boat through the summer and never use an inverter for my cpap - their low efficiency makes them inappropriate for battery power. Some cpaps, notably Phillips Respironics, can run on 12V directly and are favored by boaters and RVers. ResMed runs on 24v and offers a high efficiency 12/24v converter. There are some "off brand" solutions, but its best to use the DC cord offered by your cpap company.

if you really feel the need for an inverter, follow the recommendations here:
