Heated Hose

Post by csb » Fri Nov 03, 2017 5:15 pm

I'm using a Fisher & Paykel Icon+ with the humidifier and heated hose. My question is, how do you know when the hose has possibly gone bad?

I imagine if you notice it ins't heating the moist air anyone. Is that happening?

Waking with a very dry mouth. The water is heated coming out of the machine. I have upped the heater level but that didn't seem to help. I just thought if the hose was no longer heating properly that would also cause the dry mouth? I am using a nasal mask so I'm also wondering if I have air coming out my mouth during the night? I have used the nasal mask for the past 8 years and never had a problem in the past.

More than likely it's mouth breathing. Using the same mask...tape your mouth for a couple nights. Another option would be a cervical colar or chinstrap to hold your chin in place.

You may be mouth breathing...that will dry the mouth out for sure.
It's also possible the dry mouth is not related to mouth breathing at all.

As to why now after all these years....any number of reasons.
Any change in meds that might make the mouth dry out more easily?
Any nasal issues going on that might be causing you to mouth breathe more?
