Intellipap questions

Post by Still waiting for my account activation » Mon Oct 30, 2017 12:24 pm

Greetings to all,

I've lurked here in the past, getting tons of useful information to help me with my cpap therapy, but I finally decided to register so I can join the group. I started out about 10 years ago with an M series, but turned it in after just over a year when I discovered that the health equipment company that sold it to me was defrauding my insurance company. By then I had found cpap dot com and ordered a PB Sandman, which worked well until a few days ago when I noticed a faint but definite burning smell when I turned it on. My new Intellipap Standard came yesterday, and so far, so good. Hubby is really happy about it's quietness. I have 2 questions, though, that I hope you all can help with.

1. I really like the auto on feature, but wish that it would automatically use the ramp when it starts. The initial blast of 12.5 is a lot. Does anyone know if there's a setting that would make it autostart with the ramp instead of the therapy pressure?

2. It said that it would come with an SD card, which must be internal, because I don't see an SD card slot. I do see a data port, though. What do I need in order to provide the data report to my doctor at my annual visit? And if there's a way that I could monitor the data throughout the year, that would be a bonus.

Thank you all so much for all the help over the years, even though you didn't know you were providing it!

If it is not the Plus, it doesn't record data.

"Please take into consideration that the IntelliPAP Standard is a basic CPAP machine that tracks basic time usage. The IntelliPAP Standard PLUS is a more advanced CPAP that tracks efficacy data such as AHI and Leak Rate. The IntelliPAP Standard PLUS also comes with advanced SmartFlex technology that makes it easier to exhale."

Hi, I love my IP, but have had to read the manual on occasion - do you not have one to look for the autostart or ramp info? Have you talked to the dealer you got it from - if you got it from a dealer? I didn't get the model with a card (just use the screen codes to look on Cpap.com for good basic info (all I need cuz I'm very consistent), but again either the dealer could help, the manual, or someone else here with experience.

OH - just realized you only have the Standard, so not sure if my ideas are helpful, but I hope you find your answers. You might find a clinician manual on Apneaboard.com.

Please let us make a recommendation on machines the next time you will make a purchase. The Intellipap Standard is a brick we would not recommend.

Yes, I know I got the basic machine. When I had the M series, I had to turn off the exhalation pressure relief because I wasn't getting good results. Perhaps the algorithms have improved, but a standard cpap has always worked well for me, so I don't see the need to pay for features I won't use. I pay for my machines without insurance, so the extra cost matters. I also didn't find anything in the manual I got from cpap dot com that says anything other than that the autostart and ramp features exist.

So, it looks like I'll have to ignore the autostart feature in order to use the ramp, and I'll just take the smart codes to my next appointment. This machine is still an improvement over the PB Sandman just because it is so quiet.

If you turn on AutoStart and then follow the instructions for turning on Comfort Delay,
Using the Comfort Delay Feature
Your IntelliPAP has a comfort delay feature to help make it easier for you to fall asleep. The airflow will start at a low
pressure and then gradually ramp-up to the prescribed setting over the last few minutes of the specified delay time.
NOTE–When the delay comfort feature is activated, a message will flash on the display periodically, indicating the amount
of time remaining in the delay.
You can adjust the amount of time spent in comfort delay by using the advanced device controls. The Delay Time can be
adjusted from 0 to 45 minutes in 5-minute increments.
NOTE–If you are unable to change the delay time, your provider has locked this setting.
... both features should work. Check to see if you get the flashing message showing the amount of time remaining in the delay.

Already did all of that. The delay feature is set up the way I like it, start at 8 with a 10 minute delay. The autostart feature still starts out with the therapy pressure, ignoring the delay feature entirely.

It's OK. I'll just not use the autostart. My old machine didn't even have the feature.

That's a bummer. Sounds like a sloppy job writing the firmware and testing it.
