Full face mask

Post by quiltybe » Sat Oct 14, 2017 5:29 pm

I am new to Cpap and new to this forum ( this is my first post).
i have ResMed air sense machine with the humidifyer and the ResMed Airfit F10 full mask.. I have been using this since July and think I'm perservering enough to get used to everything but the silicon on the mask.. It feels sticky on my face, I've tried cleaning the oils off my face using alcohol and lightly powdering the mask with corn starch.. Does anyone have any ideas that I haven't done to make this more comfortable?? Also, I saw an add for a cloth mask..anyone tried them??
I'm happy for any advice you can offer....thanks

Have you tried using a mask liner? I have made them out of old, well-used tee shirts. If you want to try making some, you can find a pattern for them here: http://montfordhouse.com/cpap/diy-cotton-mask-liner.pdf

This mask liner will work with the small or medium cushion. If you use a large, you can enlarge the pattern. I cut the center hole larger than the pattern shows. Just make sure there is enough material on the edges to go under the mask. You can also purchase mask liners from padacheek. The owner is a member of this forum and the items she makes are very well made.

it's normal to take some time to adjust to sleeping with cpap and to start reaping the benefits. some get to the benefits at once. most of us take a little longer.

and we are all different, so we don't all get there at the same time.

hang in there, it does get better!

I don't want to discourage, but it took me over two months before I started to notice any difference. The change was gradual. Around the two month point, I began to notice I could sit and work the crossword puzzle in the morning paper without dozing off. I could also sit and watch TV without falling asleep. Now, I can enjoy reading, again. I have always be an avid reader, but quit a few years ago because I could never stay awake long enough to read more than a few paragraphs before I would nod off. Now, I read extensively.

Today was the first day I felt a little like normal--- my stomach has been hurting-- I think I'm swallowing air-- trying to train myself to breathe through my nose even though I have a full mask..
This is not going to beat me... Thanks to everyone who responded, I really needed to talk... (^..^)

I believe the air goes to the lungs-not the tummy. Anxiety?

AMESS, Google "aerophagia" it's a common, uncomfortable side effect of Cpap treatment that hasn't quite been dialed in to the right pressure.
