Different headgear for Aloha?

Post by KathyJL » Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:23 am

Hi,
I've been using my CPAP now for almost 8 years and I'm tired of the headgear flattening my hair and/or making a birds nest. I use the Aloha nasal pillow, which I LOVE. I've tried all the ResMed nasal pillows plus some other brands, but nothing stays stable on my nose like the Aloha. I've also used TapPap, which I liked, but I think gave me headaches due to clenching. I might try that one again. Meanwhile, I'm trying to figure out a how to make myself or buy some headgear that is compatible with the Aloha but fits on the ears like Swift FX Bella or something that it doesn't go over my head. Has anyone had any luck doing this? Thanks!

Use very low humidity or pass through.
Slightly heated hose. Hose cozy.

Hey, there, I've gotten some good suggestions on keeping the headgear from slipping on one of my threads. You might check them out. Some, I haven't tried yet.

I use Nuance Nasal Gel Pillows. What's different with these and the new ones you are using? I'm in search of new headgear that might not slip, but, love my pillows and would be afraid to switch. I think mine are pretty perfect, but, I'm told the headgear is what it is and there are no options, so I have to improvise.

Thank you for your response! I can't remember if I've tried Nuance, but the Aloha attaches to the hose differently. I guess it's all just personal preferences.
As for putting my hair up as recommended in your other thread, it's a good idea and I've tried it. Sometimes I just get sick of the headgear, that's all. Would be nice to not have something over my head all night. I'm expecting a new headgear to arrive any day now. Once I get it, I'll start messing around with the old one to try to create something that works. Have a good night!

The Aloha can be attached to the Bella Loops headgear but it takes some fiddling to get it done.
I did it some years back but now I don't have the Aloha to duplicate what I did and I can't find the pictures.
It can be done though. I slept with it that way one night to see if it could be done.

Yes, we called it the "Bellaloha" ! It really did take a lot of fiddling and I concluded it wasn't a great long-term solution.
