that's quite easy: max pressure is the maximum of your measured mask-pressure. that is not the same as the set max ipap and epap.
as I already pointed out a couple of times: there are some instances where this normal and in some and can be a faulty machine - the difference can only be made by actually looking at the data.

you keep confusing 2 very different things constantly - there simply is no way knowing what you want, what you see and what you are talking about.

I was a able to toy with the data a little bit, while I had my 3 day rental.
If I was concerned about the sleepyhead's interpretation of the pressure, I would try to directly read BRP(dot)edf file of time series
off the machine's data card. If you look under S9 Data fromat SleepyHead Wiki, it shows
BRP High resolution graph data gives "Mask Pres" High-res Mask Pressure cmH2O.
There are a few EDF file readers out there, and you could at least try to correlate those raw numbers to what you expect, before
any sleepyhead processing.
For example, looking under my resmed folder I found
9_18_17\SDHC\DATALOG\20160617143148BRP(dot)edf

But what you can see is a comparison (admittedly formatting is a bit sloppy as I slapped the two images together with mspaint).
On the left, is the sleepyhead data.
On the right is the raw resmed card BRP(dot)edf data for the same evening, BEFORE sleepyhead even sees it.
Notice the measurements and scales are very close, telling me sleepyhead does not do much data transformation, other than pass the data directly.
This can help isolate your issue.

You can also read and view raw IPAP and EPAP, if they exist, using PLD(dot)edf files.
One possibility, is that most of the manuals show that there is a "maximum single fault steady state pressure."
In the S9 manual, is is on the order of 30 to 40 (depending on duration of event).
This tells me that the machine is capable of putting out higher than the intended value range(s) set by the user (and your measurement of 34 is conceivable in this range).
However, being that is a "fault" it was not necessarily intended. It also does not give the exact reason for that breech, it is up to
someone with the data to troubleshoot it.
Again, the way to isolate it is to confirm by looking at raw time series files, before sleepyhead. There are several free edf browsers, and as others mentioned, there is a more specific resmed reader software.

I don't have enough experience to really say for sure, but it I can say that my sleepyhead and resmed files did not even report ipap data, only epap.
It could be that my machine has settings for epap = ipap or something (again, don't know enough to elaborate yet).
And in most cases I can sample (including 2 years of older user data), I can always see both the printed (statistics) epap range, and charts both show epap,
being below(dynamic Mask) Pressure. If the your chart boundaries are much less than the max reported value on the statisics range entry, then I would also think something is amiss.
But again, you can look at raw data if you want to take sleepyhead out of the equation (or isolate the calculation). Beyond that requires looking inside the software itself, and as I pointed out,
the raw pressure data is no different than sleepyhead's reported data.

I just reviewed one months worth of data in SleepyHead from my Resmed Adapt which is of course the ASV model.
Not once did I see an IPAP max over the 25 cm the machine is supposed to have as a maximum. I saw some 22, 23 and 24 but never anything over 25.
I have no idea if your 34 max IPAP is a reflection of SH just being buggy or if your machine is weirding out.
If you don't see IPAP peaks over 25 on the pressure graphs with either ResScan or SleepyHead...then we don't know where SH got the 34.
If ResScan doesn't show the same IPAP max number...then obviously SH bug is likely the culprit.
I don't remember if ResScan even shows IPAP max...and no time to go fire it up and check it out.

Makes a person wonder why it was returned.
