I wonder if a revision is possible if the Nissen is done improperly.

Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is a highly effective treatment for obstructive sleep apnea, but it is not without its side effects. One of the most common complaints with its use is CPAP-related gas, including excessive air that leads to increased burping, farting, and bloating after use.ChicagoGranny wrote:A properly performed Nissen Fundoplication should prevent CPAP from causing aerophagia.kiminabmw1 wrote:Nissen Fundoplication with Hiatal Hernia repair surgery, and it left me unable to burp (or vomit) so the trapped air has to pass through if you know what I mean
I've talked to people who have bloating issues after Fundoplication with CPAP. I've talked to people who their OSA was cured with Fundoplication surgery and I've talked with people who have no bloating issues or air swallowing at all. We are all different, would be much easier if there was a "one size fits all" scenario!!
Saw my Surgeon, Fundoplication in place .... surgeon highly skilled, and after the first 6+ months post op, I was no longer bloating as long as I didn't eat gassy veggies, drink carbonated drinks or use a straw. Now since starting CPAP, bloated up in the morning. Clueless why I would be swallowing air, but I see my Sleep DR next week so I'll see what he thinks!!
Thanks!

It's called aerophagia and is a common undesired side effect of CPAP. Here are some tips on preventing and coping with aerophagia - wiki/index.php/Aerophagiakiminabmw1 wrote:Clueless why I would be swallowing air
