Hi everybody!
Does anybody know if EncorePro will also read folders, or network shares, or hard drives?
And yes I have sleepyhead also, but the SD card has a prescription from my new doctor which resets the flex settings every night, and I'd like to either make that go away, or at least be able to change those flex settings.
And being on Linux, I set up a virtual machine running windows 7, and encorepro installed correctly, but doesn't recognize any SD card so far, and I couldn't find any option to point it to the right folder/hard drive
Any ideas?

afaik Encore was designed to read "Smart Cards" not SD Cards.Shnorky wrote:encorepro installed correctly, but doesn't recognize any SD card so far, and I couldn't find any option to point it to the right folder/hard drive
One thing you can do is just format or erase the SD card, it is not needed for the settings to work just set them on the LCD screen. Make sure you write everything down before making any changes.Shnorky wrote:but the SD card has a prescription from my new doctor which resets the flex settings every night, and I'd like to either make that go away, or at least be able to change those flex settings.

I can't believe that the doctor put in a prescription that resets your pressure every night. If you have an autoset the pressure can change throughout the night based on your needs.

Re: EncorePro reading SD card/folder
Yeah...they do it and it's easy. It's done with Encore and it sits on the SD card and every time that SD card gets put in the machine it will revert to back the way the program setup the settings.I can't believe that the doctor put in a prescription that resets your pressure every night
So any changes a person makes won't stick.
There are 2 choices to get around this.
Use Encore Pro to alter the RX settings on the SD card
Erase the SD card to remove those hidden setting RX parameters
No, Encore works with SD cards just like it worked with Smart cards. I do it all the time with my PR S1 SD card and Encore Pro. Besides...with the new DreamStation machines the only Encore that works with them is the latest POS that makes installing harder than normal which was a PITA as it was.#1Guest wrote:afaik Encore was designed to read "Smart Cards" not SD Cards.
Encore can't be directed anywhere. You have to just tell it to "download from device" and it only knows to go looking for either a SD card or a Smart card. You can't direct it like you can SleepyHead. Believe me I have tried and I have never been able to tell it where to go (besides go to hell POS PITA software)Shnorky wrote:And being on Linux, I set up a virtual machine running windows 7, and encorepro installed correctly, but doesn't recognize any SD card so far, and I couldn't find any option to point it to the right folder/hard drive
All those other choices in Encore for directing whatever don't pertain to getting actual data from the SD card.
If you could get Encore to recognize the card and create a patient you can rewrite the RX to you liking but it's a lot of work.
It's just easier to erase the SD card and get rid of the settings from the RX.
Then you can make any changes you want and they won't be over ridden by the SD card RX.
You lose nothing of critical nature by erasing the SD card. The machine retains almost all the data files and will put them right back on the SD card. The only file it doesn't store on its internal memory is the flow rate stuff and you already have that in SH anyway.
So if it were me...I would just use my computer to erase the SD card...then put it back in the machine...and let it write all those files back onto the SD card. And then make any changes I wanted in Flex or whatever and they will stick.

What about just buying another SD card, and using it, they are cheap. Then you doctor could have his play with me card when needed. Jim

Thank you for all the replies!
As it is a new doctor, and I will have a checkup with him in a few weeks, I wasn't too keen on just deleting all the data. Not sure if he did it on purpose, either, or not, but he was very kind at least.
So, for everybody who is in the same situation, today I could toy around a bit more and got Encore Pro running, and found some stuff out:
If the settings are "sticky" and overwrite anything you put on the machine yourself, the settings file will be called reuse.000
If they are one-time settings, the file will be called use.000 (or at least as far as I could tell).
For anybody who has Linux and wants to run Encore Pro in a virtual machine:
- get a windows copy image, I got a Windows 7 from https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/m ... #downloads (it will run for a few days, then you'll need to set it all up again, but it's free!)
- get a copy of Encore Pro (make sure that it matches the image: 32bit/64bit)
- get a copy of ImDisk http://www.ltr-data.se/opencode.html/#ImDisk
- install virtualbox, import the "appliance"
- add a shared folder in the settings
- copy imdisk, encore pro, and the sd card P-Series folder to the shared folder. They will be visible from inside the VM.
- start the VM, install Encore Pro, install ImDisk
- go to the control panel, find the ImDisk applet, add a removable drive
- Windows will ask if you want to format the new disk, say yes
- copy the P-Series folder to the new drive
- start Encore Pro, add a patient, download the card data
TA-DAA (and then click a bit everywhere, looking at the graphs and reports)
