Resmed data log question

Post by guestjjc155 » Fri Sep 01, 2017 6:09 pm

Hey all, Been trying to sign up for the forum but have not received my email notification despite requesting an additional one (checked spam folders etc).

Oh well hopefully this works and someone has an idea about my CPAP issue.

I was just prescribed a ResMed Airsense 10 about a week ago. Have used it each day and actually have not had any issues getting used to it etc. It seems like this is going to be a real life changer for me.

One thing that I have notice is the way it logs my usage time is weird. I have a weird work schedule and thus a weird sleep schedule.

It looks like it is using 12noon -12noon as a "day" and time from one day/sleep period is going on the wrong day.

For example it shows that on 8/31 that my usage was 12hrs and that my usage today 9/1 was only 4hrs and change. Neither are correct since I slept with the CPAP on for roughly 8 hours each day. The total times are always very close to being correct, if you do the math, but the daily usage times are out of wack.

I generally wouldn't care about that but I am in the Insurance Compliance phase of my therapy and the way it logs the time makes me look really inconsistent with my usage, which I am not.

Anyone have any idea about how to fix this or has anyone else experienced this or if it even matters for the insurance companies? I looked through the manuals and the menus on the machine and can not find anywhere to change anything that I would think would help. I have the correct time zone in my ResMed My Air account too.

Thanks
J-

ps any idea on how I can get my account here set finalized when I am not getting the approval emails?

ResMed machines do use a Noon to Noon reporting period. Starts a brand new 24 hour reporting period at 12 PM per the machine clock.
People who happen to sleep during the Noon change will see some weird usage hours for sure.

What a lot of people do to make sure that the hours of use get consolidated and not broken up into 2 days is just change the clock on the ResMed machine.
Do you know about the clock and that you can change it?
Explained in the manual.
https://sleep.tnet.com/home/files/resme ... -guide.pdf

You can set it however you wish to offset the clock so that the sessions get consolidated.
Like if you never sleep past 3 PM...change the clock time ahead 3 hours so that Noon your real time is 3 PM machine clock time.
Or move it 6 hours ahead...lots of options.
Your reports won't show the actual correct time but it doesn't really matter...8 hours of use is 8 hours of use no matter what the time clock says and all insurance cares about is hours of use.

Just remember going ahead is easy but going backwards can sometimes be problematic. The machine won't go backwards if there is data during that reporting period so if you do want to go backwards make sure it has been several hours since you last used the machine.

Awesome thanks very much. I wasn't aware that there is a clock that you can change on the machine. Good info about what the insurance company looks for too.

Any idea who I should contact about my issues signing up for the forum? Is there moderator email?

About the member registration issues... See this below from another thread.
I am sorry but I don't have any way to contact the ones in charge other than by private message through the forum. I don't have their private email addresses.
Do keep trying to log it though even if you didn't get the email notice. I have seen a couple of people say they never got the notice but log in was accepted. I think right now everything is so screwed up and of course cpap.com who sponsors this forum is located down in the Houston, TX area...so things are even more messed up now with Harvey paying a visit.

Hello everyone! My name is Ben, and I work with CPAP.com. I wanted to give you guys a small update about what's been going on with the forum lately.

A few weeks back, the board was flooded with spam messages. This of course made things rather inhospitable for a while before we managed to get the mess cleaned up. Since that time, we have switched all new registrations over to requiring admin approval. This allows us to keep this place clear for our currently registered members, but has effectively closed registrations for the moment. This is not a permanent state of affairs.

I am currently working through a project to upgrade cpaptalk to a new version of the forum software we use. This will give us some much needed security upgrades, as well as giving us the tools to re-enable user registrations without letting every bot in. Sometime in the next month or so, I will make an announcement about the final timeline for this project, and we'll get you guys moved into a new home.

In the meantime, we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause new visitors, and we thank you all for your patience.

Cool thanks again for the info. Just tried logging in again and no luck. Looks like they had their hands full with some shenanigans.

I have mine set so that "noon" is at 3 or 4pm, depending on the time of year. I do not change it when the time changes. I just keep it it mind when I review data so that I know when an event really happened. It works well for my data, and doesn't mess up my sessions. I normally sleep until 12:45 on work days, and usually until 2 or 2:30 on days off if I don't have a need to be somewhere. I have to be sick to sleep past 3pm, so that works well for my schedule.

Just pick a time that you rarely sleep past, and make that your new noon.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?
