New Sinus Rinse

Post by NyNurse33 » Sat Oct 07, 2006 6:28 am

Its called "rainout"!! Ever heard of it? Had the darn thing turned down to 1 and still got it. Its staying off tonight, unless I get myself a cover today. In all fairness, I never turned on my heat before I went to bed and woke up to find that my house was 60...brrrr. But I was experiencing rain out the first night and it wasn't this cold out, never had rainout with my resmed, wonder why the difference. So as you can tell, I didn't have a good 3rd night. I woke up sometime early this am to find that I pulled my mask up over my head, never remember doing that, maybe I was getting tired of drowning.

The hose cover helped (i made one out of fleece). The aussie hose really solved the problem. I like a cold house at night, 62-65. Most of the time during the day I only keep the heat on 68 tops. I did give you the measurements for the hose in your other post.

Yes you did, thank you. But when I went to the fabric store last night and told them I needed the fleece 74 x 5 1/2, she said it doesn't come that long I do not sew or pretend to know what I am talking about, but I felt like a jerk because I didn't know how to ask for it. If I go back, what exactly do I say? I know I can get those measurements, b/c I made my kid a blanket that is the same length as the tube.

Most fabric stores don't carry 'longer' fleece, I get the 60". Just make sure you get enough to cut 2 lengths and sew them together for the length you need. Fabric is sold by the yard. Most stores will let you buy 1/2 yard (18"). This gives you more than enough for the hose cover and should cost under $5. I made 2 covers with 1/2 yd.

I bought a wonderful fleece hose cover from offerocker, a poster on this forum.
It works great and was inexpensive.
I have the heated hose but don't use it every night becasue it gets really warm, and I like cool air. The fleece cover does the job most of the time, even though I like my room temp in the arctic range.
PM offerocker and see what she has to offer. I love the one with the rubber duckies!

I've had the same issue since night 1 I have been a hosehead for 8 nights now). I put tube socks on my hose and it helped a little, but had to turn the humidifier down. I just ordered the fleece cover from offerocker for now and for ac in summer and I also ordered the Aussie heated hose for when it gets cold in the winter. I already do a sinus rinse before I go to bed. I don't need a second one while I am sleeping!

Melissa,

Why not see if there is a polar or micro- fleece blanket somewhere (cheap) that you could cut up for your cover? I've bought them (new) when I've seen them for 10-15 dollars. One could make a pretty load of the hose covers, although maybe not with little duckies!

Also, would your child REALLY miss 5-1/2 inches off that blanket you made? Just wondering!

rain out

Post by sloizeaux » Sat Oct 07, 2006 7:12 pm

My first night with the machine that also had a hummidifier, woke up with some water in the mask - tickling my nose. I just bought a hose wrap - PAID $18 - I wished I had read the latest posts. - Is there a website for the sale of these types of items ?

I was in Pathmark earlier. They had 50 X 60 fleece throws for $3.99. I've also seen them in some drug stores for $3 or $4. You can make quite a few hose covers from one throw.

I was able to buy some fleece today and made a cover, using velcro ( Idon't sew)...funny looking but at least its covered for now, until I either buy from offerocker or an aussie one day.

You might try just not using a humidifier at all. I stopped using mine about 8 months ago and things are just fine. The great part is no more distilled water, or hassle.

I make the ComfortSleeve, which is a cover that will fit any cpap hose and sell them for $16 postage paid.
They are made of high-quality, pill-resistant fleece. I'm thinking of adding monograms to them. I cannot advertise here due to cpap.com selling hose covers. Web site not up yet. I will be happy to discuss with anyone via pm/email, and send pictures; have 16 colors available.

THANKS, LEE LEE You were a delight!

THANKS, BRENDA!

There is just a skeleton right now, someone was going to do it, but difficult when 2 people busy, and really don't know each other, then rely on email & waiting for response, etc.

I think I just need to learn how to do it myself, and JUST DO IT!

It will be comfortsleeve.com and hopefully can get links, etc.

Anyone know more about this than I? It's just the "getting started" part.

I'm finding that the pictures that I do have, and send out, are the ones people tend to choose, color-wise. I tried taking pics of various colors for an array, but they didn't come out 'true' - too light, etc. I'm just not sure where to start, or the best software, yadayadayada. HALP!!

Hugs, Kathleen
