Is the heating element removable so that when you get new tubing it can be applied to it or do you just get a whole new heated tube......and how does your insurance company take care of that...
I am asking because I have to believe the price is higher for heated and getting it replaced every 3 months or so wouldn't keep the insurance people happy, I am sure.....
We are getting into the rain out season here in the fall and I am thinking about switching to the heated tubing if it actually works well for that.

Re: Question about heated tubing
With a heated hose there is no way to remove or do anything with the heating part of it. There's actually tiny little wires inside the hose the whole length of it along with the heater electrical stuff that plugs into the humidifier.
They don't need replacing every 3 to 6 months though. I have one S9 heated hose that has been through 3 machines so probably has well over 10K hours on it.
When a heated hose fails there is no fixing it...you just get a new one.
But they don't fail very often with common sense care.
My insurance is Medicare and they allow a new hose heated every 3 months but I don't replace something just because I can. I only do it if needed once I have a spare available.

Re: Question about heated tubing
Heated hoses are specific to the machine you are using...I don't think there is a heated hose for the S8 shown in your profile. Only the S9 and S10.Lou Cypher wrote:Is the heating element removable so that when you get new tubing it can be applied to it or do you just get a whole new heated tube......and how does your insurance company take care of that...

Medicare specifically bans "auto shipping" of any cpap supplies. We have to request any cpap related equipment.xxyzx wrote: if only
my first DME made me subscribe to getting replacments on the medicrap schedule to maximise their profits
they shipped and charged my cc whether i needed anything or not
have to review the paperwork but i think the new DME did that too
If you don't have Medicare and your DME auto ships...that's something you can stop if you wish to. I would think that you of all people wouldn't have a problem "explaining" anything to a DME.
If your insurance is Medicare then just report them to Medicare and they will get their hands slapped or worse.
The credit card thing sounds like something Crapria would do.
No one has to give a credit card number to anyone if they don't want to.

Replacing hoses every 3 months is wasteful.Lou Cypher wrote:Is the heating element removable so that when you get new tubing it can be applied to it or do you just get a whole new heated tube......and how does your insurance company take care of that...

Replace them when they wear out or no longer function, always have a spare.

Won't the Hybernite fit any machine? If not, the Aussie hose will and though pricy, I've had mine probably 8 years.
