Questions about comfortlite I & II--Does anybody know?

Post by lawdognellie » Fri Oct 06, 2006 12:39 am

I'm thinking of trying the Comfortlite 2 mask, but need a petite simple cusions and nasal pillows & a 2 in the direct deal (yup this little nose of mine is a BIG problem). Well, by the time I'm done buying all the extra sizes I've spent 2 times the amount of the original mask. It seems like a waste to buy the package deal with the 4/5 & S/M sizes when I won't use any.I tried to see if it is possible to buy the comfortlite 2 subassembly, but the only one available is the one for the original comfortlite.

So here are my questions:

- Anyone know the differences between original CL and CL2?

- Anyone know where I might possibly get the CL2 subassembly?

- Does anyone know if the direct seal, simple cusions, etc. can fit on the original comfortlite subassembly? It seems the original subassembly is nicer since if doesn't have the weird elbow at the top of the head (the one that restedgal removed).

- Also, has anyone tried both the original CL and CL2 headgear? If so, which one is more comfortable and more stable?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Sarah

P.S. Thanks everyone for helping me figure out how to change the ramp time. I changed it from 20 min to 35 and we'll see how that goes.

My suggestion would be to buy the CL2 with small & medium Simple Cushion,
and small & medium nasal pillows. Then list your medium "parts" on this board for trade. It worked for me.

I have a new, sealed, CL2, but it wouldn't help you much, because its medium & large. I think I'll try to trade it for another Hybrid anyway.

If I could just keep my big mouth from gapping open when I go to sleep,
I would use the CL2 every night. The Comfortlite 2 is a very good mask.

+ Aussie heated hose.

I used a CL 1 loaner for 3 weeks while waiting for the ordered CL 2 to come in. The CL was designed after the model of a ball cap, and has hard plastic reinforcements on (I think) all of the straps. The CL 2 headgear is soft material that clings to the velcro hook side of the velcro. The only hard plastic part is the forehead plate that holds the interface, its small hose, and the side elbow that connects to the long hose.

Only if someone is selling an older one, or maybe by contacting a DME provider or sleep lab for one that was returned. They sometimes use returned ones for titration studies.

YES! They are exactly the same, and I thought that the CL 1 had the elbow, so maybe it had been replaced. Please note that I actually LIKE the elbow and have found no problem with it. I set my machine on the floor beside the bed, and that elbow directs the hose right over toward the machine.

Two other considerations: If the measurement for the direct seal is used, in my case it is too small and hard to seal. I HAVE to go up a size. The same is true of the nasal pillows.

Also, the simple seal requires a different kind of hard connection tube that goes up over the nose. If getting the nasal pillows AND the direct seal, you will get one connector tube--but will need another one for the simple seal.

Definitely the CL 2, especially if you have a small head. I found that with my large head, it was really best to have the CL 2, as the CL 1 would slip more. Adding the velcro fix to the CL 2 has made it quite stable and movement free. I could get rid of the long hair because I no longer needed the ponytail to keep the bottom strap down.

No problem. I hope you will love your CL 2, should you be able to get one!
