Hybrid Disassembly Help!

Post by kidknits » Tue Oct 03, 2006 3:30 pm

I'm trying to get the swivel off my hybrid to try the hose suggestion I read on this board. I've got a flexible short piece of hose from my Oracle, but can't get the hybrid apart to see if it will work....

Any tips?

Thanks!

Which hose suggestion are you trying to do?

hose

The suggestion was under a "hybrid hose management" thread. I think it was Snoozy Suzy who used an activa flexible short hose connected to the hybrid, then to the long hose. I have a short flexible hose that fits my long hose, but I can't get the hybrid's connector loose to see if it will fit!

most swivels have a C-clip that you remove from the inside of the mask, be careful not to break it.

I don't think that's what she did. I understood her to say she attched the short hose to the end of the mask, after the swivel that hooks to the hose. Just remove the xpap hose from the mask and, using a connector, attach the short hose to the long hose. Then attach the short hose to the mask as usual. Tooly125 had posted pics of the disassembled mask, but I don't think you want to do that. Maybe if you pm snoozie_suzy she could 'talk' you through this.

Thanks folks.

I reread the older thread... and it seems like my set up should be:
mask
stiff elbow
hybrid swivel (remove???)
connector?
top of short, flexible hose
long hose

the bottom of my short hose fits the long hose just fine. I just can't get the top of it to attach to the hybrid....

thanks again

Ok Kidknits,

After chatting with you last night I understand what you are trying to do.
Your short hose is from the orical and has a swivel already attached to it so you want to remove the hybrids to see if it will fit.

I was able to remove mine, the little bugger was stuck but I grabbed the swivel with one of those rubber things you use to open jars with and was able to pull it straight out no problem.Your husband should be able to do it for you.

Good luck I hope it works for you

Thanks Tooly125!

My husband pulled it apart this morning... but... the oracle hose doesn't fit

I appreciate the help (particularly after oldgearhead's sarcasm)

Kidknits~

I only reccomended the Activa short tubing, because frankly that is the only other mask I own, and wasn't sure if other short hoses from other masks would work, and from you just posted is proof that NOT all short tubing of other masks work. Go back to the previous thread where I posted. I left a link for the short tubing from Activa. Its on cpap.com (this website) and I thought it was pretty cheap for just the short tubing.

Don't even worry about ordering the velcro stuff I mentioned. If you can just get a little more flexibility to the part of the hose that attaches near the mask it helps so the mask doesn't pull and create leaks when you turn in different posistions.

Hope this helps.
Suzy
